Can anyone give me a chart showing all the positions (boxes) in the Phrygian Dominant scale? I guess in the key of E, shouldnt be too hard to figure out the other keys from E as a starting point.

And it is also the 5th mode of harmonic minor. So if know the harmonic minor it should not be hard to transpose it wink.gif

I feel extremly dumb asking this, I'm not good in theory (AT ALL!) so when you say major 3rd what do you mean?

Is he Phrygian Major the same thing as the Phrygian Dominant (yet again feelin' kinda dumb tongue.gif)

I haven't heard of Phrygian Major tho it might be an alternative
name for Phrygian Dominant. smile.gif

Anyhow,
here's E Phrygian: E F G A B C and D
And here is E Phrygian Dominant: E F G# A B C and D.

You are noticing G# note here, that is major 3rd interval
if you look from root note which is note E,from E to G# that's major 3rd interval.
In Phrygian you have minor 3rd,note is G and from E to G you have minor 3rd.
You are always counting intervals in scale starting from root note/compared with root note.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

Yeah, Phyrgian major is the same thing as phyrgian dominant. Dominant is the name given to chords and scales that have a major 3rd and minor seventh. The only difference between phyrgian and phyrgian dominant is the 3rd, so the scales are really similar, except for one note, but that one note totally changes the feel of the scale. smile.gif

So yeah, E phrygian Dominant is just E phrygian with a G# note instead of a G.
