Hey dudes and dudettes.

I am finally back from my two weeks of staying a the hostel/hotel.

I won't get my apartment till the first of November, so I've rented a room in a person's apartment - there is Internet etc., but I will only have my mother's old laptop with me, as taking my stationary computer with me seems a little over the top for just one month. So I will start participating again at the rate I used to! laugh.gif ... but I probably will not be able to record anything...

...though I am thinking about buying a Pandora P4XD or whatever they are called. Is it not a little more easy-to-carry-around and easier to hook up with a computer than my Boss GT6, and a little less overwhelming taking to the persons house, as I do not want to come there looking like a big loudy, noisy rocker. Is it wasy to hook up with a laptop with just a few ins?

(Still editing... sorry, I hit "Add reply")

Anyways... I can't remember now what I wanted to write more than this...

Welcome back Caelumamittendum (...). I hope the apartment is ok! About the recording, a PX4D or PX5D is very nice, but if you only want to use it as a device to get sound into the computer, a Line6 Toneport might be cheaper. No effects, I believe, just a device to get your guitar "into" the pc! Check the wiki for more info on it, Ivan wrote about it.

Toneport GX has loads of effects, amp modeling and stuff, thanks to Gearbox whoch is the software it uses. Nice option.

If you choose Pandora and want to record through USB you'll need PX5D. PX4D would need a very good soundcard, which most laptops lack of.

Good luck at your new place Cae!

As already mentioned, both pandora px5d and toneport will do the job nicely. Cheapest solution is probably toneport GX.

I would definitly recommend you a line 6 toneport (ux1, ux2 , even gx - only difference is in inputs/outputs)..They are made for recording , easy to use, small, you get a gearbox software with all the amp/cabs simulations and some effects..And they are not expensive...I use toneport ux2 for all my recordings needs at home.

p.s. welcome back mate !!! smile.gif

Hey Ivan and others.

About the guitar project:

It has been put to halt for a while, as I am not really home anymore or more or less have moved out. Having said that, I plan to finish it sooner rather than later.

Another thing:

I bought the Pandora PX4D. I have brought my guitar with me - and my laptop - so I can now record pretty basic things. :-)

It does seem quite huge to understand and comprehend (even though it's small in size.). I'm sure people around here will be able to guide me a bit to get good sounds from it.
