Download a free program called BestPractice. This is very elementary, and will allow pitch shift and speed change.

Audacity is a bit heavy for this kind of use, cumbersome, although it will do both such things.

Congratulations on your successful slow down biggrin.gif ! A lot of people use that software I personally have used it in lessons when students brings laptop and we transcribe some heavy stuff. I don't own the program but I will look into getting one soon , its great tool for sure. Where did you get it from ?

I use time stretch function in Nuendo for that kind of things, it can work for some degree of decreasing the tempo, and then it doesn't sound to great. First you have to set the proper tempo and align the backing to bars in your DAW. THen you can change it with ease.

If it's a mp3 you can do it in real time in Windows media player.(go enhancements and play speed settings)

or you can do it in Adobe Audition and save the slow down track for future use.

Vinod - I never realized you can do this in Windows Media player, I just checked it out - You can actually do it in other formats(I just did it to a wma file).

Cool

These days I am all about limiting the number of little utilities on my computer so this is cool.

Thanks for the tip

For others, in Windows Media 11, "Enhancements menu" is under the "Now Playing" box(Little pull down menu arrow)

I use a tool called Amazing SlowDowner, you can slow down MP3 audio files quite a bit in real time. You can also shift the pitch by 1/2 step or more which is quite useful as many songs are in Eb tuning and I have a tremelo which is a serious pain to retune. It also has an option to set start/end points in songs so you can play a solo over and over.
