Hi everybody.

Today I am ready to reveal my new baby.. Some of you may have heard of this baby before, and how difficult is was for me to get a hold of her.

This monday she arrived, and I could barely believe it and yet, here she was.
I needed some better pictures of her before I wanted to show her to you. I am still not completely happy about the pictures, because they dont quite do her justice. There is no proper light in this time of year, but I managed to snap a few today.

So here she is: The 1958 Gibson Custom Les Paul Faded Tobacco

Never have I played around with such a great piece of craftmanship. This is my "first" electric guitar that I have looked for and paid for myself. Not only does it have a killer killer sound that makes the angels weep, but it also makes you want to play the thing ALL DAY LONG. No matter what you play, it just sounds *GOOD*.

The action, the strings, the frets. The hardware on it is even "aged" a bit to give it that "vintage" look. It's amazing. It just seems to be coming together perfect. I find it easier to play, and definately more fun. Man, I could talk about this guitar all day, but will spare you for now.

As some of you might know Gibson suddenly decided to increase the price of their guitars by 20%. On this particular guitar it meant a good solid 700 dollar increase to a whopping 3700 dollars (ex. taxes). Ouch.

I managed to find an excellent dealer that not only had superb service, but also had a couple of these fine guitars in the store selling them for the OLD price. I saved 1000 dollars on the guitar (and actually got the shipping for free as well).

So, if any of you are thinking about getting one of these fine guitars, I can HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this guy.

I dont know if it's legal to advertise on the site, so I'd better not. However, let me know and I will gladly refer you to him.. He has a lot of other guitars as well in case you dont like Gibsons (pfft. who doesn't? haha) wink.gif

edit: I will post more pictures if I am lucky to get some on a sunny day. smile.gif

Oh yeah, there's a lot of people that just love those necks. I played a lot of other guitars before ever trying a Les Paul. Charvel, Jackson, Peavey, Kramer, ESP, etc... All had the thinner profile neck. So I'm sure its just a comfort thing.

I'd imagine that guitar (or an earlier model) spends more time in studios cutting records than any other axe out there. And thats for a good reason.

You see, this is a good example of how to use the word "awesomeness". When my girlfriend told me she didn't like her legs, I, trying to be the gentleman and bring up her self esteem, looked to my quick wit to come up with a good response.

I came up with, however, "What are you talking about?! They're slabs of awesomeness!"

Naturally, this didn't have the desired effect... Especially as shes very petite and very slim. Ooops.

hehehe.. couldn't it be the fact that you referred to her legs as "slabs"?

Thanks all.. I am really happy about the guitar.. It's so inspiring to play it. smile.gif

I just finished putting some schaller straplocks on it. I know it's not the "vintage" way to go, but I dont want to drop it on the floor either.. wink.gif

Sounds reasonable. smile.gif

His name is Travis Ambrose and he and his friend owns two guitar stores in Reno, Nevada. He told me he also has a museum with all the guitars not for sale.

The websites are Bizarre Guitar and Vintage Vault Guitars.

If you decide to contact him, let him know that David sent you. I bet he will give you a good deal..
