About Guitar Rig, I have to say I absolutely love it, I only use this for recording, nothing else. You can check out all my lessons here on GMC, I used Guitar Rig for all of them (aside the harvest of sorrow lesson of course
 ) and I don't think the sound is too digital. This software offers a wide range of amps, cabinets and effects and I think no matter what kind of sound you need, you will find it in GR3. It is very easy to use and a nice sideeffect for me is that on tour I don't have to carry anything else with me (like Pod, pandora or whatever other amp), GR is installed on my laptop and I am ready to record whenever I have an idea.The software that I am using for my drums (and all other instruments) is called Sample Tank 2.5, a very cool software sampler that works as a stand alone software as well as a plugin. It comes with several gigabytes of cool sounds and is also very easy to use. To complete this overview about my recording setup, I am using both, Guitar Rig and Sample tank, as plugins in Pro Tools. -------------------- Guitars: various Gibson Les Pauls / Gibson J 45

If you only want some nice drums I guess Sample Tank is a bit over the top, since it is a full sampler softare, I am sure you can find something cheaper for drums only.

Hi Jess, here is my setup:
Main Computer: Intel Core2duo @ 2,7 ghz 2 gb ram 400 gb Harddisc capacity (normal serial ata harddisc, 7200 rpm speed) + 500gb external disc for backups Windows XP home with service pack 3 Pro Tools LE (version 7.4) with M-Box2 mini Interface, connected through USB) Guitar Rig 3 (software only, since I am using Pro Tools I don't need the GR3 controller) Sample Tank 2.5 Laptop: Intel Core2duo @ 2 ghz 2 gb Ram 120 gb Harddisc (no idea about the speed for sure fast enough though)Windows Vista home premium with service pack 1 Pro Tools LE (version 7.4) with M-Box2 mini Interface, connected through USB) Guitar Rig 3 (software only, since I am using Pro Tools I don't need the GR3 controller) Sample Tank 2.5 -------------------- Guitars: various Gibson Les Pauls / Gibson J 45

I only use guitar rig for guitars (thats why it is called GUITAR rig after all
 ) all other instruments come from Sample Tank.

Hey Marcus I have a question about Guitar Rig. Do you experience any latency at all when playing or recording with guitar rig. I'm maybe considering buying Mbox so I'm interested in some pro/cons if there are any. Thanks in advance mate.

Hi Ivan, so far I never had ANY latency issues with this combination. The M-Box with Guitar Rig works perfectly fine for me. What I am doing is this: I use one channel in Pro Tools as my main Input channel, I have guitar Rig active as a plug in on this channel, this is where I chose my sound. Then this signal gets routed to the channels that I am actually recording, and this works perfectly fine. Another (even better) option is to record the pure guitar signal, the actual DI-sgnal coming from the M-box. Later you can send this DI-Signal through Guitar Rig and alway use the sound that you need, like this you don't record any sound, just the pure guitar signal. The problem is that for this system you need A LOT of hardware power, and my system here at home is to weak for this. I tried it, it works fine when I only record 2 or 3 tracks, but anything above this is too much for my system. But when we record our albums we always record a DI track along with the normally recorded guitar tracks, like this we can always reamp the recorded track in case we decide for a different sound in the end.
