I haven't heard freak kitchen, but I head Mattias' Freak Guitar album, very innovative, I thought he used whammy pedals, and a bunch of effects, but he just uses a guitar and an amp, simply amazing, there is a clinic of the guy demonstrating his technique with less than $100 worth of equipment, well except for the guitar.

I love that band and Mattias is my favorite guitar player.
I have saw him playing live and I have to say that he is unique as a player and as a person, very nice guy.
