So If you don't wanna read all this just skip down to the last few paragraphs

So today I went to a local music shop for the first time (this is in my college's town so I haven't lived there very long)

and everything looked pretty normal, a few racks of guitars, something that looked like a drum room in the back, tablature books ... you know, a normal music shop....

then I was a doorway in the corner with a sign that said "More electrics upstairs."

so I thought "ok I'll go have a look" so I walk upstairs and (mind you there is no one else up here, not even employees) and

BAM!

a giant room that is more than twice the size of my apartment, with guitars covering the walls, and racks and racks of guitars in the middle of the floor...... Jacksons, Gibsons, Schecters, Fenders, Ibanez's, and about 50 brands (exaggeration) I have never heard of.

So I am the only one in this room, and a huge smile comes across my face.... I spent 3 hours playing random guitars, everything you could imagine... and I was all by myself... (for most of the time)

well anyway, one of the employees did come up eventually and he had me try out this one amp that was on the floor, (there were halfstacks and full stacks, too to try out)

but anyway, he has me try out this little 50 watt amp, a very unassuming little thing.... so I start playing on it, and I'm like "wow this sounds really nice" ( I was using a american strat at the time, which I have also never played on so it was extra awesome)

so the clerk left me alone again, and probably an hour later of playing on that thing, I went down stairs and asked him how much that amp was......

$2000 !!!!!!!!

end of story....

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Would love to know which amp was that,
glad you had nice time playing it tho. smile.gif

Off topic maybe,
in 1998 we had a school trip to Italy,Music High School.
We were visiting Bologna, having a nice walk and then I saw a HUGE music store ohmy.gif
At that time I had no descent gear as today so I was more than impressed
with the store and everything inside of it. biggrin.gif
So I went into store, took some Ibanez Jem,hook it with some Digitech floor FX,
through a Marshall amp and I started to dig it cool.gif

After...hmm....6-7 hours approx laugh.gif ...guy came to me and said,
"ok mate, you should go now,we are closing" laugh.gif

Man what a great story, I can only imagine that upper floor full of stuff and no one there bothering me while I try every single guitar and amp on sight. Unbelievable.

I wish my local store would bring a broader variety of guitars. They have a good amount of fenders and some gibsons, but I've never had the chance to try a schecter, high end ibanez or jackson, to name a few. I wish there was something like "guitar center" over here. Or even better, that local store of your story smile.gif

not exactly, the one I was playing had a tremolo knob.

On a side note, I tried googling "src Barker" (with quotations)

and the 6th result was this post! laugh.gif

So I get the feeling that the amp is not that common
