Very good idea. However, not everybody has the possibility to arrange backing tracks. I only know a few people who are able to do this...

Last years guitar idol competition had a bunch of "ready-to-go" backtracks that entrants could use to compose their solo from. I suppose it should be possible to record from any of the backtracks here on guitarmasterclass?

However there are some applications like band in a box where preparing backtracks is piece of cake. Also quality of backing tracks may be out of question, people to vote can totally ignore if drums are realistic or bass track is crappy... I believe it is totally a great idea, and Enucleation must be one of the coordinators after that great idea biggrin.gif

Or actually any ready-made BTs available (either you had done it earlier or found it on the net). I'm saying this because not many extended jam-tracks are available as backings for the lessons on GMC. And most of it is a slow blues track.

Anyway, great initiative. I like enforcers voting-system too. cool.gif

Man! It just came to me, I dont want to look like a dreamer but there actually there may be a backing track competition too? And GMC Idol entrants may have the full liberty to use BT Competitions entries with permission, thus we'll have a bunch of BT available. biggrin.gif

I think it's a great idea!
But there's a lot of planning to do because many users don't have the possiblity to record themselves (audio/video).

Granted some users dont have the possibility, I didnt think it would be a big issue since no one brought it up in the Enter Sandman contest or maybe they did i dunno tongue.gif

I really am not so good at all the tech side of producing music ...I have no idea how to create a back track or anything of the sort...if I could use a already created backtracking I'd be more inclined to join in the fun. also to note...I think most of us will be blown out of the water by the big dogs running around here...like some of these instructor people!!! perhaps one for the instructors and one for the members? I'm sorry but there is no way I can even come close to some of thier talent unless I went down to the crossroads and made a deal like Robert Johnson sad.gif
