I don't know who would be best, but in the Metal genre I would have to say Michael Romeo, his guitar riffs are awesome powerful, and technically challenging. His Orchestration is amazing, I compare him to John Williams. Everything key changes in songs, how he blends the parts so nicely, most of the work is done by him. I admire him as a guitar player but mostly as a songwriter
