The school I go to is roughly ~35 minutes away down the highway, and so when I registered for classes I got them all on tuesdays and thursdays so as to cut down on the cost of just getting there. Sounds like a great schedule! However, my absences have mounted up. On the very first day of class, I was in a different state and I couldn't attend. It was fine, first day is nothing important anyway. Several weeks later, I was having a terrible day (not feeling well, starving because I get there at 9:35 and get out at 3:45 with no time to eat in between classes, little sleep the night before) and I decided to leave early. Still, this was fine. Then I got sick, and I missed another day. Tomorrow, on thursday, I have to be in court. I can't re-schedule it though I've tried, and my school won't excuse anything but jury duty. I am missing two major tests tomorrow, and though my grades are generally pretty good (I'm a good student, and besides, how can you not be with such a schedule? ) they do not allow tests to be made up, unless of course you have jury duty. Further, for the two classes I missed on the day when I went home early, my absences are now at a level where they are considering dropping me from the class (being that I attend only twice a week, we don't get many days we can miss). All in all, it's just a very frustrating situation that I feel like I can do nothing about. It seems like such a simple thing to go to class and get everything done, but in my situation I think I've just had some really bad luck. It's all very discouraging though. But don't worry, everything is solvable in life, just make a good schedule and recover from the problem with discipline following that schedule, and it will be OK. Nothing containing private details if you're worried about that, just with these kind of administrations, official paper work can really go some way to help you out. I've no idea how your education system works, but I had to fight damn hard to stay in college due to absences caused by depression. With your reasons, there shouldn't be any reason to expel you, but thats my moral opinion. It is strange that they won't accept anything but jury duty as an excuse... If a student doesn't attend 80% of their classes for a semester, the school doesn't get funding for the student, so they're dropped. And I have tried speaking to my teachers (who like me and are actually fighting for me) but there is little that can be done. What is most ridiculous is that this could be avoided by simply rescheduling my court date to any day of the week except for the two I attend class. Didn't even have to file my expungement papers. So now I'm back home. Missed first class of the day, but I get more absences for that one so I should be fine on that front. I should have plenty of time to make it to my second class and the rest of the day, so I guess I'm in the clear for now.
