There's so many different Marshall and Fender amps it would be hard to describe pros and cons without a specific model smile.gif
They're both great brands, and it depends on what sounds you want really..
Any specific amps in mind?

For Fender twin reverb or bassman. For marshall an amp that AC/DC uses. I don't know which exactly ... I heard they used JTM45 Head's too. I would LOVE a half stack.. ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!. One more question that's been bugging me for ever... When you only got a head, not a cab, can you play trough the head only? or is it only as connection to the cab..... always wonderd that. I want an awesome blues tone.. but I also want to be able to play with a perfect ac/dc tone and Iron maiden stuff too! You know, an amp that's really versatile!

Twin Reverb and Bassman are both GREAT amps, but so are most Marshalls..
I'd go for a marshall myself, but that's a personal preference smile.gif
No, you can't play through the head alone I'm afraid sad.gif

Versatile? Buy an ENGL amp biggrin.gif

I'd agree it depends on what you play. Personally I would never touch a marshall amp, because I use clean sound alot and Marshall cannot sound as clean as I want it to. And I tried alot of them, so for me Fender Deluxe Reverb, Twin Reverb or Bassman ´59 is good amps. Tried them all but don't own one unsure.gif unfortunatly

Both brands are great. Fender did some great amps back in the sixties, and Marshall just stole their ideas and started to build great amps as well back in the late 60ties. IMHO, Marshall carried on where Fender stopped. Marshall pushed louder and louder, and with more gain, and Fender stayed nice and clean, and the best Fenders are still from the 60ties. This new stuff is actually pretty bad comparing to older amps, cheap components, cheap everything!! Back in the days they knew how to make a good amp, and they did it.

I had an old battered fender twin reveb when I was a teenager,my father bought it for me and surprised the hell out of me!
Gotta to say I dont miss it.lol Used to use a rat overdrive with it,with compression pedal and others.A mate borrowed it over twenty years ago and I never got it back!lol Bet its worth a fortune now!Nevermind

Dont like marshalls either-well I used to have a superlead head that I fronted with arts sgx2000 preamp and that sounded amazing!dont know were that is too!lol

These days there are so many amp makers out there who are better than fender or marshall-Messa boogie-Bognor-Elgenator(sp)-Hughes and Kettner-Eng-framus-ect-ect

Another thing I have learnt is to never lend amp heads out,or take a photo of the person taking it so you can remember who it was later!
