Does anyone know anything about this amp or how good the tone is compared to a mesa boogie or an orange amplifier.

Well I own one and it's pretty good. I bought it a few years ago when I decided to start playing again.

You can't compare it to a Mesa Boogie or any other real tube amp though. It just isn't the same.

It's a modelling amp and it does alright but it just isn't the same. The speaker in the combo doesn't sound that good for a live performance and most people end up replacing it. Search the Line 6 forum.

If you use it for recording or a studio amp it can be quit good but you will need the midi cable interface to get your patches sounding good with a computer.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

It's a good amp, and it has direct DI out which is great also.
However, as scillet mentioned, you can't compare this to a tubeamp.

I have a vetta 2 head and from what I understand the Flexy 3 combo uses a lot of the same tones.Realy good cleans and means with enough FX(if needed)to shape your tone in many ways.Compared to a tube amp(and I can easily compare it as I have tube amps sat right by it 24/7)it has many strengths and a few bad points

One of the plus points is it screams in full out rock mode, pinched harmonics easily fly out on the low strings and even when not using compression(I never use it)it sounds like there is some added into the chain. That is something I have noticed with a lot of Line6 gear. The other guitarist in a band I'm in used to use a Vetta 2 rig and compared to my Hughes and Kettner it sounded just as good(less feedback too as the noise gate on it is realy good)

The endless ways you can shape your tone is a big plus,if you also have a full board pedal you can easily do all that on the fly with your feet as your playing.

Recording wise I wasnt so impressed with it,after going out direct straight into the bands recorder it sounded distinctly thin compared to the tube amps we use. This could easily be changed with EQ boosts but I didnt like the way the recorded tone sounded a lot thinner than the sound coming out of the 2x12's(2 of them so 4 x12 in total). In fact sticking a mic infront of the cabs gave a far better sound, like I said it needed fine tuning and when you have a few amps to play with and not a lot of time we tend to stick to the tube amps that sound the same live as recorded

The Vetta/FLexy 3 tones are realy good, sometime better than tube amps on whole but it lacks that organic soul that good tube amps have!Cant realy put my finger on the loss it has,but the other guitarist uses a messa boogie dual rec head now and he prefers the creamy overdriven tones he gets using low power settings and the rectifier. It plays better
Now,I am the other side of the stage and to be honest I think his Vetta tones sounded just as good(if not better in places) but yet again when playing its another matter!

In a nutshell there realy good amps, solid state so also should be bomb proof-CHeck out the samples online or try one out

I'm currently leaning towards saving for an Orange right now but who knows.
