Hi Muris

As it was the advanced challenge of this month, I decided to give a try to your "tapping and legato lesson"

I had some problems with ringing unwanted notes and already could find some help of you in other threads in your forum.

I saw that definitely part of my noise problem is from technique. But I would like to ask what kind of settings of compressor and noise gate you use when playing stuff like the one in "tapping and legato lesson"?

In one hand, I don't feel like I can solve all the noise problems on tapping with technique only. On the other hand, I don't want to disguise it so much that I don't improve my technique... unsure.gif

Sorry for answering... tongue.gif
I put a sock on the first few frets so that my strings are damped. Also, I mute all the other strings with my two hands when not using a sock.

I´ll show my take soon. =)

Yes indeed,a sock or hairband will do the trick here.
However I strongly advise you not to use it unless you have
wider stretching with within your left hand so you cannot use
your left hand thumb, index etc fro proper muting.
Always push yourself to apply as much "natural" muting as possible,
it this lesson there are none wide stretching so there is really
no emergency for that kind of dampener, but suit it for yourself. smile.gif
As for compressor,I never used it on driven sound, only sometimes for cleans.
And noise gate will not help you here I'm afraid,
it's only there to stops hum from singles etc,not for open strings ringing. sad.gif

So it's all about good muting and you can use your right hand for it as well,
specially for lower strings, you simply lay your right hand palm
on low E and even A strings when doing tapping. smile.gif
