Even if you do scratch it, even if the finish gets worn or whatever else, it will still grow in value. The biggest thing is, don't change anything on it... keep it original. No pickup changes, no tuner changes, no nothin', and it'll grow in value. A 50's strat isn't invaluable because it's been played for decades and is worn, so I would say play it, but of course be ultra careful with it. But don't sell it! I agree with Ivan, selling your car (don't know whether you have one or not) would probably actually be a better idea than this.
