Those were great videos! When I was a kid, I had a cat that would play the same game. Cats can be very funny animals!

Cats are psychotic. But in a nice way.

If the two mallard ducks I have been feeding refuse to leave when the pond freezes over, and if I have to capture them and take them inside for a couple months to live in a crate in the laundry room with 8 cats in the house taking turns eying them, I can take videos of crazy ducks when spring comes.

It is hunting behavior. I assume that is a young cat, probably in it's first year. They play pretend less as they get older generally. It is instinctive, training for the hunt.

edit: look at the cat's eyes at the end. it was pretending the guy was a bird or something. Then it go close and looked and reality clicked in, it was the big monkey, the bird fantasy vanished. So it ran, because in the cat's mind, he thought "I just imagined I was going to eat the big monkey, and the big monkey might be angry". I understand cat psychology.
