I do that sometimes, but usually I'm not practicing, I'm kinda just playing a rhythm with chords, or sometimes I play technique exercises while I'm watching tv.

Yes I have done that a lot - especially things that don't require metronome (bending, vibrato etc) are good things to practice in front of the telvesion. Definately better than just watching tv without practicing. smile.gif

I wouldn't let it take the place of "focused" practice. Obviously you will definately learn faster and more error free if your attention is totally on the skill you are trying to develop. But there are some opportunites there for serious stuff, for instance, whenever a commercial or something with music comes on, try to play something over it.

THANK YOU, I thought I was the only one that thought that. I used to do that but then I'd go so focused on the guitar that I'd just tune the TV out... not a bad thing but I learned not to do it while I'm watching a show I like laugh.gif

I sometimes would play chromatic scales or execises, just to get my fingers going.

Very true, at least you're doing something.
