Anybody have a Pocket Pod? Any instructors use a Pod to do your lessons? They seem so small and convenient.

Hay!

I just got a pocket pod for masterclass lessons actually!

It is convenient especially the fact that it can be run and fully controlled off the PC with the Vyzex.

I use Pod X3 live in my lessons as well as Ramiro, Alejandro and Carlos. Lian uses Podxt. I really like its sound for recording.
I haven't tried pod pocket but I think that it should sound like the other models.

I think Marcus L has one. And if I remember well Audiopaal won one but passed it on to someone else, can't remember whom. So there are at least a couple so I suppose you could replies from owners here.

Pocketpod has nice sounds, but it can't be used to record through USB, that's its biggest flaw.

But the tone is quite good for a cheap POD, obviously its bigger brothers (Pod XT and X3) are much better, allow USB recording but are also much more expensive.

There is also Pandora PX5D, which allows USB recording, and has a price in-between. Check it out just in case. (PX4D doesn't record through USB, it has to be PX5D).

I use the pocket pod effects... I like it much better than the gearbox software that came with my line6 toneport tongue.gif

pocket pod for the effects! toneport solely for the recording biggrin.gif

Yes it does work with Mac too:)

The Vyzex is a program you download from line 6 once you have purchased the pocket POD.

It basically is the pocket Pod but on the PC. You Obviously need the Pocket POD on and connected to PC via provided USB cable.
You can edit save control FX from Vyzex.

I've been looking at a portable small units lately as well (not necessarily usb as I have a Zoom G2 that is USB but not pocket sized). From what I've learned that Pocket POD does not have very good sounds- not at all like some of the other POD units. I also checked out the Korg PX5D and the sounds on that leave much to be desired considering the price. you might want to consider something a bit bigger if the USB is important to you(Like a Pod XT or the Zoom G2.1u)

The bigger Line 6 pods and variants definitely have better sounds.

It all just depends on what you're looking for and what purpose:)

I own pocket pod, but I don't use it for my lessons. I find itreally useful when it comes to quiet practicing with headphones - it really does its job well, you can jam along your mp3player and that's pretty cool. If I had to choose, I'd take used POD 2.0 (cause it costs almost the same as new pocket pod, but allows you to record via usb). Also if you decide to take Pocket POD, buy it with external power adapter - ppod eats batteries preeetty quickly smile.gif.

A very true statement, I was only able to get a few hours of life per set of batteries

It's useless without an adapter as others mentioned, so you gotta take into account the price of an adapter if you want functionality out of it. Sounds are decent, but i prefer Guitar rig 3 smile.gif
