I'm sad to say I messed around with the guitar for far to long, like 6 years, before I really got serious. I got serious about 8 months ago and I'm 25 now and have made great progress I feel. I wish I'd taken it more seriously in high school and college... man could I have put hours into it instead of just sitting around talking. Oh well, better now (late?) than never hey?

This progress is partly Kris's fault... he got me hooked on regular practice. biggrin.gif

Well.. I learned the basic chords... A, E, Em, D, G, C, and a couple others when I was young. I don't remember what age, but I was not in highschool (I am in college now).

I didn't get serious till the summer of 2005. So I was 17 when I started.. I am 18 now. In total, I have been playing about 1 1/2 year or so. I have REALLY been serious from the start of this year till now and still going. I don't think I have went a day without playing.. if so, only 1 probably. Although, there are days where I only play a song or so (work or school hindering).

My dad plays guitar, fiddle, and bass.. and my mom plays piano. So I have grown up in music.. if that means anything.

Wow, first negative post I've seen. Everyone has their own opinions and are entitled to it, please stay on topic.
I was pretty serious when I first started, since last January, I was 17.

13, played a lot until 18 or 19- slowed down in college, started career and family, had children, then picked up again around 35. Never quit.

On Topic: I was 17 when I started playing, and.......I'm 17 now, but I've been playing seriously for a little over 6 months.

I'm thirty five, and I started taking the guitar seriously at, er, thirty five! I bought a second-hand, beginner's guitar about three months ago - been trying to fit in practicing in between work, social life, beer, football and the Internet.

It's a hard life, eh? wink.gif
