First of all, I want to mention that I don't have anything to record with except a headset mic. That and the fact that I need to record something for a school application quite soon made me want to try to record something, and since I started learning this solo today, I thought I'd just record that.

Anyways, I'd love to hear some feedback on the recording, I know this is not very good quality, it's as good as I can record right now, but is the sound quality good enough for a school application, or should I try to find some better way to record whatever I'm going to record for that? I'd love to hear someone who has any idea about those things reply.

Also, since I'm uploading this anyways, I'd love to hear some feedback on the playing itself aswell. I know it's a really easy solo so there aren't exactly lots of things you can comment, but if anybody has got some feedback on the bends I'd love to hear it, and the harsh truth, please. If you think I need to sell my guitar on ebay, don't hesitate to say that tongue.gif (even though I'd just write you of as crazy)

Hey man. You should try hooking up your amp (form the headphone jack) or just a pedal to the computer's line input.

Good playing though man. Really good tone too for the recording, how long have you been at it?

A pedal to the computer is all I use, and it sounds awesome.

I think you did a very good attempt, however it lacks feeling.

Firstly because your vibrato is weak, secondly the bends are a bit bad.
If you work on this (the vibrato part takes a long time to get right though, for most people), it'll be spotless IMO.

Good luck!

Edit:
And you should get your guitar plugged into your computer.
Check your amp if it has a preamp or headphone output.

If it does, plug straight into the line in on your computer.

Like kjutte said, your fingers are in the right place, but you lack the feeling and need to work on your vibrato and bends.

Hmm thanks for the replys. Yeah I know one bend is horrible there and some others aren't exactly spot on, but I'm working on it. As for vibrato that's also something I'm working on, and I hadn't really payed attention to where to add vibrato when I recorded this, it might sound extra weak because of that, I just learned it a few minutes before recording and uploading. (excuses!)

But thank you for your replys, I will keep putting focus on bends and vibrato, allthough it feels horrible that after so much practice on those subjects they are still weak points. Damnit. I really appreciate hearing your honest opinions smile.gif

A good way to learn bending to pitch is for example.

E 12b14 bend as far as you think is 14, then pick 14 to check if it was correct.
D same
B same

You will notice that you gotta pull the string further to achieve the same pitch modulation on thinner strings, so this is a very nice way to learn. I personally practise that way, anyway.

Vibrato wise, most important technique imo, because a piece will feel pretty feel-less without it.
It's 100% strength and stamina technique, so practise it while watching TV, unplugged- or something like that. smile.gif

Are the bends really THAT out of tune? I mean, I know the one where I bend up a whole step, then down a halfstep and then back in the same bend is horribly out of tune, but the other "normal" bends sound pretty much fine to me, but maybe I need to practice my ears. How long does it usually take to learn how to bend in tune, I realised I needed to practice that like a year ago and I still haven't gotten it right, that must be some kind of record.

I guess I'll keep practicing bends and nothing else for a while, hopefully I'll get it right some day unsure.gif
