I guess you will find the information you are looking for in the lessons fkalich mentioned above.
If you need some further in depth information, Muris gave once a really helpful description about tapping and muting strings. Muris used for me the right words to understand what to keep in mind while practicing tapping. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...=17132&st=0 If you have problems with hammer-on and pull-off, i think you still miss some strength in your left hand. Which will come of course with time and by practicing tapping or other "legato" lessons. Do you think that practising on the low e-string for a while and then moving up to lighter strings will make things easier by the way? Maybe, but i did the other way around. Tapping on the high e-string is a good start i think to get the technique down as it's easier to mute the other strings. I moved then down. I notice as lower i get as more strength i need for pull-offs and hammer-on. For me it works better to start things easy and make it slowly more difficult, but there everybody have it's on few and expierences i guess. |

Hey guys, I want to get serious about practising tapping. Problem is that I'm a real beginner at it and it sounds really weak and out of tune. High e-string is half-doable, but the others are just bad. Most problems come with pulling off, but I can't say that hammer-on tapping is great either really. Most of the time when approaching something new I step into it really disorganized and without knowing what to pay attention to, but this time I want to do it differently. I really need something like a step-by-step plan.. Where do I start, when do I move on, what is the maximum level that I can set as a goal? I hope you people can guide me through the jungle called tapping for noobs. Tapping isn't easiest thing on planet, that's for sure, specially if you're new to it(beginner). So I would take advices given above and practice everything slow, some tapping licks might be sloppy cause most of the time we just do some random hammer-pulloff thing without thinking what we are playing actually. Slowly, try to sync your hands nicely, watch on muting and step you'll see the progress. How long it's gonna take until you master it?... I'm afraid no one can tell you that, fully up to you, good luck. -------------------- Youtube

You just need to try it incredibly slowly so you can get it clean and then you can speed it up from there.

Ok. It might not be the right place to post these here but I think it has something to do with it. What about making a tapping version of https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...ll-offs-lesson/ I know you must have hundreds of requests so just a thought, no pressure -------------------- "It's a long way to the top..."

Are you able to figure out how to play it by tapping at this point? -------------------- Youtube
