hey guys,
bought the pod x3 last week and up to now everything works fine!
i just realized that u cannot use the pod farm with the pod x3 in a stand-alone kind of use.
u need to use pod farm as a plugin.
so how does this work? i use gearbox as it is recommended and it detects my pod. how can i use podfarm as a plugin?
i really like the idea of podfarm and it seems to be more easy is use compared to gearbox. dry.gif

That would be the VST-plugin in any DAW recorder software (like cubase, sonar, reaper etc).

A VST plugin is a sort off effects add-on to exisiting recording software (like Cubase). In the case of Pod-Farm this means that you do not need to have a stand-alone version of Pod Farm (or Gearbox) running in order to record your guitar.

Basically, the VST plugin enables you to record the guitar signal as dry as possible and you can add/change your distortion/delay etc on top of this dry signal after you have recorded it (so it will give you 100% flexibility on the actual tone you want to reach for a recording).

Hopefully this helps smile.gif

I never worked with Reaper myself, but it's free and I hear some good stories about it. You may want to check that one out smile.gif

Not sure what you mean by stand-alone mate. Pod Farm is Line 6's newer modeling software. You can certainly use it just as you would Gearbox. As far as recording, you will need separate recording software like Reaper, Cubase, Ableton (which probably came with your X3) ect...

You can select from pre-loaded patches or create your own with the model packs that come with it or purchase additional add-ons.

You can record directly into your DAW using these effects. Some prefer to record with a dry signal and then add the effects (VST's or Virtual Studio Technology) Some people can create great music using them and not know how to play the actual instrument albeit, they do understand music.

If your still having problems, post up and members will be more than happy to help out. smile.gif

You can use POD Farm as an FX Plugin within the recording application such as Reaper or Cubase mate.

Chiming in with skennington that Pod Farm works as a gearbox replacement to control your POD Xt or as a vst plug-in for recording software. I am using it with Pro Tools LE with outstanding results.
