I don't know if anyone has ever seen this video and I know it is not a guitar but I love this piece and thought some fellow GMC'ers might as well. Let me know what you think. Tough instrument, I tried one and it was very difficult to get used to.

definitely was interesting...

do my eyes/ears deceive me? or is that instrument stringed from the inside out... like I think I am hearing him play higher notes on the out side strings... and it looks like the thicker strings in the middle.

never seen anything like it... thanks for the link

Tony Levin used the Chapman on his Liquid Tension Experiment with John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy and Jordan Rudess.
Really great music IMO. Check them out.

You are correct about how they are strung. That was one reason I had a tough time getting used to it. I tried an alto stick which was a guitar scale instrument. Cool instrument but I realized I was going to have to invest way more time into it than I thought laugh.gif laugh.gif My guitar skills didn't really translate at all!!

You're right, chapman stick is about tapping & legato. Tony Levin is one of my favorite players who is a master of it. occasionally John Myung from Dream Theater appears with it to play some tapping interludes or intros (e.g New Millennium)

Correct Enforcer. It is a tapping instrument. Check out Greg Howard if you want to see a VERY skilled player!!
