Just came across this news and at first thought it was a mistake, but turns out to be true! Check the link for more information:

http://www.evhgear.com/news/index.php?display_article=8

A Korean Peavey Wolfgang was my second guitar, after a Yamaha Pacifica 112 (THE best beginner guitar in my opinion) and I really enjoyed that guitar.

When trying out a number of low/middle end price range of guitars I came across the wolfgang at the guitar store, and literally fell in love with it. It was perfect for what I wanted at the time, which was mainly for tapping and 80's style solo's (or at least me trying to replicate some!).
It was so fun to play too, just felt natural moving around the fret board and I had a really decent "grip" on the strings with both the fretting hand and picking. Not sure what it was about the guitar that worked so well for me but it did.

More recently I've been more into Floyd'y/Strait's style of playing, and the insanely high output of the wolfgangs humbucker pickups, poor wood quality and Floyd rose just couldn't really provide me the right tones so I bought a fender custom shop which I love.

I always thought about getting the USA standard model Peavey Wolfgang, which was infinitely better (I imagine) than the budget Korean model. Then Peavey decided to axe, or EVH decided to move brand - not sure which and suddenly second hand prices for USA wolfgangs rocketed, so I lost interest.

Has anybody played the Peavey Wolfgang? I'd be interested in opinions.

I'm interested to know what take fender will have on this range, and personally hope they don't make it a custom shop exclusive, like the insanely priced Gilmour model, so its a bit more affordable.

I've always had my doubts about signature models, on anything, but I played the Wolfgang without knowing it was a signature guitar and knew I loved it... So just had to suck up my better judgement/sceptisim and just enjoy it smile.gif

I'm rambling again... Anyway, I think if the fender take on the wolfgang gets raved about I might try one out if they're not stupidly priced, or I might just have to search out a second hand USA model and see if it's as good as I imagine it to be. The korean model I have now, I must admit feels awfull in quality compared to the Fender Custom Shop... but that isn't reall a fair comparison biggrin.gif be interesting to see how the Top end Wolfgang feels in comparison to the Korean. If a lot better, it may be my next guitar purchase!

There is a big write up about it in Guitar world this month. It seems like every guitar EVH comes out with is the greatest guitar he has ever played or made or whatever it is he is doing these days. I love EVH and he is one of the best ever for sure, but it is kind of sad to see where he is today. Just my opinion of course biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Yeah, its always the same with new models - Best I've EVER made!! heh.

It's an odd one because I remember loving the Wolfgang I had, now however, I notice just how terrible it is to play. The wood quality is so bad, the quality of the frets and polish of the neck is just awfull. The output of the pickup's are only good for screaming lead guitar, and produce a lot of unwanted noise... yet I somehow hope the peavey USA version has the same "wow!" factor it had for me when I was 16!

Maybe just wishfull thinking smile.gif

I'm not sure if it's a blopper man, these magazines come out extremely early. They are always a month ahead for some reason.

I am trying to figure out why are they doing that, and can't seem to find logical explanation for it! smile.gif

Great looking guitars always liked the style of them.

Should sound really good a quality instrument like that. I'm sure Muris has one of those but the Musicman version.
