Me? No. Though Dimmu Borgir's last album debut'd rather high didnt it?

You know what I'm saying. Look at all the great bands hat have come out in the last 10 years. (worldwide) People are still stuck on the old stuff.

Movies stay in the theaters for a matter of weeks over here at times. Very quick changeout. But apparantly when it comes to music the public is perfectly content being spoon fed "Paradise City" and "Cat Scratch Fever".

Yeah that's true Jer! Didn't mean to be rude by the way. I hope you understood that smile.gif

Real Metal music is an extreme genre - why would you expect albums to be on sale at borders? Extreme meaning on the fringes, far end of the spectrum - it is to me no surprise whatsoever that the masses don't listen or accept metal and god damnit that's the way it's supposed to be!

Real metal takes an acquired taste... At first I HATED Slayer - I though it was nonsensical screaming - after I really gave it a shot, listened to the rhythms, processed the power of their sound I was immediately enthralled in their music and never looked back. Same thing with death metal - I found one band I really liked (Dismember) and I just grew from there.

Metal isn't something you can go to the store and pick up, it requires research and a burning desire to find more...it's really a life style.

Out of all those bands listed on the Borders webpage the only real two 'metal' bands are Pantera and maybe Metallica hahah even though they're both incredibly mainstream (Pantera is my favorite band in the world though ahha)

It's not about Borders... The thread should show that. Look anywhere and you'll see a similar list. Thats what most people are buying. After all these years.... Still.... Rather than looking into what todays artists have to offer.

Check out this list: http://www.borders.com/online/store/Landin...mp;simple=false

There is TONS of newer stuff available. Who knew you can buy Cattle Decapitation at Borders.... The new Three Inches of Blood....

Yet GnR, Metallica, AC/DC etc, dominate their list....

Thats what this thread is about.

Why doesnt the public (in general) move past their 1st exposure to this type of music and "evolve"?

bah whats the use...

talking to metalheads about metal is like an arguing married couple... this is true metal, that is fake metal..whatever

metal is metal...there is no such thing as real or fake metal...metal you might like, i might hate....the reason why you see lists that look like that is because those are bands that appeal to non musician artists (for the most part) us, being musicians, we look at all bands differently than any regular person....there are more non musicians than musicians in the world, so thats why i think the list looks the way it does

Thats a good point.

Thats why McDonalds is in business. More non-chefs than chefs.
