Tiredness is awful! biggrin.gif

I have already an image in my head how this could work. If Kris agrees, I´ll put that in words.

P.S. here's a little riddle... puncuate this sentence so that it makes sense, and then "translate" it into normal language.... it CAN be done!

That, that is, is not that, that is not a ham sandwich.

sorry if someone already started replying to this... I switched up the riddle

Correct?

I think that this idea is made out of pure awesomeness. I really need to improve my grammar and spelling. Sometimes I manage to spell words improperly and I dislike that. Like simoultaneously...

Maybe some kind of subforum or some kind of tag in the thread name/single post should help mark the "corrected topics"?

In practice, it would look like this:

- you want to improve your english, so you start a thread/participate in thread in that forum ( = language improvement forum)
- when some member of "grammar police" (weird name:D) replies, he also (in italics) tells you/corrects your mistakes you've made in your post.

What do you think?

(Just out of interest - how many mistakes have I made in my post?biggrin.gif)

I like this idea ^^
Even though I've spent most of my childhood online, I'm sure there is someone out there who can correct me when I screw up the grammar ^^

I like the subforum idea the most, where people could ask for phrasings, synonyms, grammar and corrections. That way we won't get too many grammar police posts in topics smile.gif

Hey there! smile.gif
At GMC, English is the language we use to communicate with each other. Of course it is not everybody´s mother tongue, so a lot of GMCers don´t speak/write correct English. I don´t know how you others think, but I personally want to improve my English everywhere I can. Maybe we could start a "Language Improvement Program" which cares about our spelling/grammar/... mistakes. In other words, those who speak English nearly perfectly can correct the "non-English-speakers".
Clear? Possible? smile.gif

Cheers,
Tolek

I agree, I think a place of it's own would be best. In the long run I would not appreciate to read grammar corrections in all different threads. That would take focus of the forum and I must say the idea to improve ones language is a great one, just not in a guitar/music forum, I forsee that grammar corrections everywhere could make lots of people lose interest having to filter that out. Me included.

EDIT: Self appointed grammar experts exist in plenty of other forums. Wouldn't it be easier to double post, both at GMC and any other random forum where there exist one? wink.gif

Good argument, but where else can we improve our language? I barely use other sites where people speak English than GMC. biggrin.gif
As I said before, people who answer on the topic itself can add a correction of they want, so there will be no grammar floods. smile.gif

We should start learning Esperanto, so that we all would be at scratch! Or maybe we should create our own ninja language? biggrin.gif ph34r.gif

I can depict it in my head just now: GrammarMasterClass! biggrin.gif

(Sorry if I am a bit off topic, but it is 05:38 in the morning and I don't feel like going to bed. You know, no sleep - no sense of seriousity (Ouch, that didn't rhyme quite well) (How normal is it to put a clam inside a clam? (I don't know if it is called clam, but I mean the ()-signs) tongue.gif)

Ok, enough kidding. I do actually think that just chatting like we are now will improve many people's English a lot! I used to play Runescape before, and I would say that it has played a big part in how my grammar has developed. (I usually don't use clams (If that is what they are called) as improperly as I am now)

- By the way, is this suggestion accepted? I could be a grammar policeman tongue.gif
