I've been viewing the free lessons on this site since the early part of the year when Marcus (Of Blind Guardian fame) first mentioned it on his blog, and I finally got to sign up!

Hello GMC, my real name is Trapper. I currently live in Savannah, GA, and I've been playing guitar for what's getting close to three years.

My favorite bands are Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, Ayreon, Tyr, and Opeth, and from a few discussions I've viewed on the board, I'm quite sure I'll have some people to talk with about my favorite bands.

I'm looking forward to having good times speaking with you all and learning more from the lessons now that I can see them fully, as well as from other members.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato
