Does anyone have a copy of the supermodels for the GNX4? Would you be willing to upload them for me?

Thanks so much and happy new year wink.gif

EDIT: Nevermind on the uploading. What are your opinions on them?

Since I can't figure out how to delete it, go ahead and delete it this if it is against the rules.

I just wanted at least one or two so I can figure out the quality before I shell out $100+ on it XD

I can tell you they are awesome.

And Opeth.d.b will attest to that as well.

Email Mike at www.mfxsupermodels.com and ask him if you can take a couple of patches for a test drive.

Tell him "Jer" sent ya. wink.gif

Thanks Jer, I'll be sure to email him smile.gif

Is there an option to download them when you buy them or do you have to wait for the CD to come in? How nice are the updates?

There have been a LOT of updates. And they are GREAT quality. Sure not every model will be a sound you are interested in. But there are plenty that will be.

I moved from a GNX4 to a GNX3000 a while back so I bought those too. No updates for the 3000. I still get the updates for the 4 though. Even though I sold it.

In hindsight I'd get the gnx4 before the 3000 if I bought another.

Now I'm on to the GSP-1101 and wishing he made supermodels for those!

Can you any find me a tutorial for making a GNX4 sound better through amps? Headphones sound nice, but I can never get the same sound out of an amp... sad.gif

The best thing for running it into an amp is the FX loop return.

Do you have one?

What amp is it?

Go from Guitar to GNX to the amp RETURN part of the FX loop.

THis should treat your amp like the power section and speaker. None of the amp controls will work. Just volume.

Then adjust EVERYTHING on the GNX. ALso, try speaker compensation off as well as on, see what sounds better.

Does that amp have a CD in? Is it a 1/8th inch jack?

Yes, 1/4"

Try running into that too then. You'll probably get your best results that way. The GNX is dumping out a processed sound that really doesnt need any further "coloring" by an amplifier. The CD in on there is designed for just that. Or at least it should be. Turn speaker compensation ON on the GNX. There is a button on the back next to the 1/4 outs.

Meaning dont use any knobs on the amp for tone or gain/od. You adjust everything on the GNX itself. It becomes your preamp.

Oh okay.

On a side note, I feel so humbled by this thing... I normally never have to ask for help with electronics, but audio is new territory for me T_T

Thank you so much for your help happy.gif

no prob.

Getting a modeler like that sounding good through an amp can be a bit tough.

The other option is to turn the modeling part off. Set the smp model and cabinet model to DIRECT. Then just use it as a multi FX box. Pick a distortion pedal like the metalzone and your reverb or whatever and then just set the marshall to clean and adjust as necessary to get it how you like it.

The key is this:

Modelers, with the modeling (amp/cab models) turned ON will sound best thru something that is pretty flat sounding. Thats why headphones sound good. Your PC speakers, even if crappy, will sound pretty good too. Running into your stereo will sound good....

Guitar amps are not flat sounding. They sound like guitar amps. Your modeler is dumping out a sound that already sounds like a guitar amp. So its doubling up on the "guitar-ampness" of it and then it sounds not so good.

So you have two choices. Make your amp as close to flat sounding as you can, or turn off modeling.

That cd input should do the trick. Since its designed to play back sound from a discman or ipod it should be a pretty flat signal path.

Speaker compensation on the gnx series you jus thave to play with. It may sound good on, may sound good off. You wont hurt anything either way.
