My Motto:

If it's too loud, then your too old. That means, if you can take a set of drums playing right beside you, your good to go.

Let me give you this little story.

There was once a group of guys who wanted to play in a band, none of them could even play their instruments well enough to do any covers at all. So they pushed thru and started writing their own songs because they couldnt play anyone elses.

After hard work in writing and composing they got their wish to be a band eventually going on to be known as

Dun dun dun!

U2

Did you ever wonder why they have such a signature sound? Cause they had no choice in the beginning. Playing in a band when your just starting out is a great way to develop some skills in other area's besides just the guitar.

I say go for it!

QUOTE (eddie!!!! @ Jan 1 2009, 10:47 PM) *
i have been playing guitar for a little over a year now and im about to turn 19. i always wanted to play in a band so how do i now when im good enough and am i running out of time?

I joined a band when I`d been playing a little over a year, I honestly cant remember how bad/good I was back then (its a few years ago now laugh.gif)

It was a mixture of covers and originals and I believe that my advancement due to learning songs and having to put solo`s together etc was far accelerated than if I`d sat at home practicing, having said that I also think that I certainly missed a lot of things along the way (mainly theory stuff) which I`m having to revisit now.

I`d say why not, go for it, if you think your good enough then do it! its great experience smile.gif

I'm 19. I can't do that, but I don't think I'm too old. I wear earplugs.
