Hey there!
Next year, I´m going to (try to biggrin.gif) pass my exam at school. After that I want to study music. I don´t know which direction I want to choose, but certainly something with guitar. wink.gif

I made some researches and I found this site: www.studymusicineurope.org from which I found the site of Warsaw´s university: www.chopin.edu.pl/angielskie. My interest lies in studying in Poland since this is my home country. smile.gif However, if there isn´t the right direction, I am ready to change my decision. I want to start a musical career. If this goes wrong, I still have the possibility to become a guitar teacher.
What direction is best to make a living as a professional guitarist? What universities have good teachers?

Thanks!
Tolek

I really don't know any college to study guitar in Europe but I can tell you what I did. I studied composition in the University and I studied myself guitar and once in a while I attend to a particular teacher for classes.
That could be a solution.

First one I can think of is Berklee College of Music Correspondence school in Barcelona ! You can find that one at Berklee website or I will shoot you link later when I find all the contact info. I have couple of friends who graduated there , one of them is now in Kosovo, couple in Belgrade and others stayed in Spain - so I will ask them for more details about everything.

The one in Graz is very well known and basically everybody from Serbia goes there as Tuition was (or still is) FREE for students from Serbia smile.gif Stjepko Gut trumpet player is also teaching there in Jazz department (Serbian guy legendary trumpet player , Jazz of course:). I can talk to him and give you more info about it. My past bass player went there for a year and quit but he can give me insight more as he is in my town and I can see him soon smile.gif

The one in Germany (Berlin) and Holland (Amsterdam) are schools where my video lesson students attend now, and I prepared them via video lessons. So I can talk to them and find out how things are going.

As far as I know , cheapest and most useful option would be Graz in Austria. If you have financial ability, going to Berklee correspondence in Barcelona would be awesome as you would go trough Berklee program there. I am not sure who is teaching guitar nor Jazz there - have to check it out.

Thats it for now Tolek smile.gif

No prob man glad to help. If I may answer your question (I hope Pedja wont' mind), I think you can have electric guitar lessons, it only matters what level you sign up for. With your background I think you can sign up no problem IMO.

Tolek there will be questions on Submission forms asking about your guitar knowledge ; types of guitars will also be mentioned.
I think you will be safe to say with your current playing ability on electric guitar like you took electric guitar lessons for couple of years. They are primarily concerned if you can do technical things on electric vs classical , things like bending for example and riffing etc.

I think you have a fair chance of getting in, but it all depends where you decide to apply and how many people they accept per semester there among other factors (like prepared pieces, overall instrument knowledge, ear training, harmony theory , sight reading , rhythm guitar playing etc).
I think you stand a chance and you should go for it definitely smile.gif

That´s not fair! sad.gif My parents decided my decision because it is what I want to do and MY future. If you are going to hate your job, your parents will be really sad that they forces you to do so. I would go to the psychologic and orienting service at the school (which is called SPOS "Service Psychologique et d´Orientation Scolaire" here in Luxembourg) and ask where to go. They will definitely help you and maybe convince your parents.

That sounds great! biggrin.gif Today I started being more attentive in my Spanish classes because that Berklee school is in Barcelona. biggrin.gif I am going to work really hard on my playing and continue developping my ear to get the best chances to apply for a good academy. smile.gif Thank you for your great support, my friend! It´s great to have someone who experienced all this and really helps one. smile.gif

I'm glad I took my parents advice. I make shedloads of money to buy more equipment because I work and got a degree in engineering.
