Is it normal to peel your fingertips playing an electric guitar?

When you start of playing the guitar (or play irregularly), yes this is quite normal. After a while you develop some callus on your fingertips, which will prevent the peeking of your fingertips.

In the beginning this is quite normal, as time goes by pain will totally go away. Just keep playing

After a while you will develop calluses on fingertips that will harden enough to prevent your skin to tear in consant touch with metal strings. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal, and good thing it happens!

I am a begginer also and for the first week or so my finger was in pain and it was shedding XD, so yeah its the norm.

it was really strange to lose some feeling in the fingertips of my left hand when i started playing..
now i already got used to it (and it got a bit better) |

I recommend warming up every morning at 6AM on the cooker hob in the kitchen for at least 10 minutes. This should get your fingertips hard as a stone
