Hello from the good ol' U. S. of A. !

Just a brief introduction really. My name is Drew, am 44 years old (yep that old really). Played guitar seriously for about 15 years, approx. 10 of those were in a gigging band playing all over the country. Ultimately the band fell apart so I rather foolishly decided to sell all my gear and pack it all in.

Then.....

4 years later..... started to get that 'itch' , that overwhelming (and in my case, uncontrollable) urge to go pick up the guitar again. So..... I went out and bought a whole bunch of great gear, then the notion hit me...' you are gonna have to work your butt off to catch up on 4 years without a guitar in your hand ! '

Then I figured, well if I am gonna be practicing a lot anyways I may as well go pick up a few new techniques along the way. So I did a bit of searching around and thats when I found you guys.

What I great site, it has everything I could possibly want and then some !

Great job Kris, Instructors and everyone that contributes here. I am gonna have a blast learning and re-learning stuff here smile.gif

All the best

Drew

that overwhelming (and in my case, uncontrollable) urge to go pick up the guitar again.

It can't be left out... anyone who played it once, will return to it - sooner or later... I was waiting for long ten years before I took my gear back into my hands... and I'm glad as hell I did! biggrin.gif

Welcome and try to explore this place... although noone can explore it really wink.gif so much good stuff here....

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato
