My Dying Bride - Sear Me

OK, I'm working now on this beautiful tune... it's the first part of this song.

Two guitars recorded, drums from a demo version of Addictive Drums and a bass from a SoundFont, filtered through a small overdrive.

I will be updating this one often, I just love this old masterpiece... My Dying Bride composed it on their beginnings.

Looking for any feedback on this part cool.gif

I fixed a bassline and mixed drums with some EQ settings smile.gif Now it really sounds much better as a whole biggrin.gif

Cool take! smile.gif
The only thing I think now to tell you is that the drums got too behind the whole band. It's like the bass and both guitars cover it. See if you can make a mix where it's more present.

Thanks smile.gif

ok, I'll try get them more present. The biggest problem with drums is it's a very small set wink.gif a demo version has only a very few parts sad.gif I don't know how I'll make it in the next part of this composition.

First off.. i have to say that I absolutely love this song and My Dying Bride! smile.gif
..and i thought that, so far, you have a good cover going on. The guitars sound nice and tight enough.

One thing i didnt like though was the bass. It's very off time!
The drums sound a bit flat, but they work. Maybe add some reverb and experiment with some compressors on them.

yeah.... I'm thinking of playing it by a guitar, too - but it's a very low sound, so I don't know... will have to think about it.

Thanks, I'll try. I just don't know how to mix a percussion, I know how to make guitars... I'll experiment as you said smile.gif

I'm looking for a nice string section VST or SoundFont... it'd be handy in this song, wouldn't it? wink.gif

And then... off to the heavy part smile.gif
I don't know, how about vocals, though wink.gif hmm...

One of my favourite songs ever, all the Sear Me songs by MDB are fantastic smile.gif
I like what you've done so far, but I agree with Trond on most parts..
It's a very good start though, and I'm looking forwardto see what you can do with it smile.gif

Good work!

Great take mate.I agree with Ramiro when it comes to drums. All youi need to do is bust down the room fader a bit, then if the whole drums sound a little quiet, bust up the master fader a bit. This all you can do in Addictive mixer.

If you have Wawes bundle, use plug in called Rbass or MaxBass.

This will blend your bass guitar a bit better in the mix.

Now I'm working on the further part of this. Man, I had to detune my axe 3 halftones down!... I was really worried if my strings won't brush my humbuckers or frets - but no, it's steady smile.gif

I'm polishing those riffs now, they're quite fast wink.gif I hope to finally record them tomorrow.

I have one problem though - I cannot for the hell get the feedback from my gear wink.gif and it plays here quite big role, so... hm. Maybe I'll try something with harmonics wink.gif Or maybe someone has some advice, how to mimic it via audio editing?
