Never mind Monte,

And I have nothing to add to Monte's comments about that except 2 comments:

1-If you perform your vibratos a little slower and a little more wider, that will sound just awesome mate IMO, but actually this is players preference, if you like it that way keep it. And your starting slide sounds perfect doesnt it? smile.gif

2-Last run, here the problem is not the speed, you do great on that, but some little(very little) timing on last notes.(apart the little wrong note on A at 0.33 on your video)little care for them there and that will be without a single flaw.

Now if you fix the problem on 2 you may start to build speed.

YEah buddy you are doing great. I am awaiting your other videos! Keep me informed!

Thanks guys!!!!

Yeah, that ending is still a little sloppy. Thats the last part I added in so its the newest.

Honestly I'm unsure about the slide part I added. If it sounds better to me. Either way is cool. This does give me one extra thing to practice though. Slides!!!

I've got some family stuff going on tonight so this'll likely be it til tomorrow. I'm gonna do Losfer Words tomorrow and more of the stuff I did today.

We had to go furniture shopping today....

Question. We are now in Week 2 yes?

What is the syllabus assignment for this week? I have the one from last week to perfect and then the other stuff I know...

Buddy, I think I will something you'll like and others are a little too easy for you. And I am sure you'll like the more distorted one with a solo biggrin.gif

Alice in chains style lesson

half of this exercise is really your kind of exercise with powerchord rhythm licks... And in the other half there is a little solo that I hope you can easily get, and that will improve your timing and solo playing issues. So thats why I chose this.

Well, I know you have a lot happening in your personal life, but I am afraid you may be overloading yourself with stacking assignments. I'll do my best to keep you less overwhelmed, but we have a target, so try to keep up with these exercises buddy. Its not even a little late, so take this as a proactive warning.

Ok, I am waiting for your videos for tomorrow, even if you cant take shots, try to at least not forget what you have achieved so far ok?

See ya later bro,

Can

Hey Can,

Yeah, that Alice In Chains one sounds good. I like that kind of lead playing too. Starting at bar 20 it gets speedy. (for me anyway) So I'll need to slow it down for sure and work up to it.

Here is what I plan on for this week:

10 min warmup (String skipping & finger independence)
20 min strumming and arpeggios (this needs to be gotten up to speed)
20 min AC style lesson
10 min Sanitarium (Keep sharpening the end and then getting it 5bpm faster if possible)
10 min Losfer Words (getting the arrangement down, I keep losing my place in this one)

I'll be doing this routine Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and 2x on Sunday. That will be our 2nd week.

Sound good?

Here we go. Day 1 of Week 2.

Strumming & Arpeggios (75bpm I think...) This is getting better.

Alice In Chains Style Lesson - Rhythm Only. I think I have this down. It'll be all about the solo next time...

Sanitarium - I got the end down better now. I messed up a couple of notes early on, just dumb mistakes. Overall I think its getting ok. Not consistent enough to speed it up yet though.

Losfer Words - This song is PI$$ING ME OFF!!!! Its not hard. But its long and my mind starts wandering cuz I'm nearing the end (or passing the end) of my practice session. I find it difficult to remember the arrangement. I can play all the parts. But I forget the changes.... So this video sucks. I know it sucks. If I am playing any particular part wrong I'd like feedback. But I know its all jacked up.... smile.gif

Strumming exercise:

In the first half, passage from E to G your pinky and ring finger couldnt position

themselves on the right spots strongly. On the upstroke version of this passage you did

fine, so I believe this was just badluck. Only one little comment here, your strumms needs

to a little even, keep in mind that strumming is actually playing arpeggios real fast, so

you are playing a series of notes there, your motion gotta be uniform and you gotta keep the

duration and speed of these notes equal. That is the final difficulty about that exercise.

You did a great job with this. Keep it up, next time if you dont make any mistakes, start to

increase the speed with 5bpms. You know the routine. Step up play it a few times, if its

without flaws increase it again if not return to prev speed. Its great buddy. You really %90

nailed this, only the speed is lacking.

Alice in chains style exercise:

Yeah, this is a good start, you did pretty much nailed half of it. I got two things to say

about that, you might consider increase the volume of backing track, because its very low,

so low that at first I though you were playing this at free tempo, this is mostly a rhythm

exercise, so I need to hear the backing track to check your timing smile.gif Second thing is, on

the second part of rhythm you need to play the

bar 1.....................bar 2
E|-----------------------|-------------------------|
B|-----------------------|-------------------------|
G|-----------------------|-------------------------|
D|-----------------------|-------------------------|
A|-------4-------3----2--|--L--------5-------------|
E|--2---------2----------|-----2--2--3----0--2--3--|

part a little open(dont mute the strings), and let the E and A strings blend a little on the

bar 1. On bar 2 keep what you have played. (to be exact this is played on the video nr2 on

exercise page) Lets see what will you do about the solo part. Remember to divide it to

smaller manageable sized chunks, play it slow and you'll nail it in no time. Good job bro,

with you working this fast we are surely making some time economy.

Sanitorium:

Yeah, thats it. You totally own this solo buddy, you control it and thats great! Apart that slide mistake, you nailed all the parts. But one little problem there, you should keep your vibratos a little longer and a little uniform. That is all. When you are sure about consistency you should start to speed up.

Losfer Words:

Yes, in the Losfer Words video, there are some syncro issues, but that is not a problem I tried to sync it in my mind and I see your problems. Ok, lets talk about that: Well it is not as sucky as you think it is. Your technique is what it should be. You perform A.P. pretty well, only you have some memmorizing issues. You should take some notes about that. You can write on some paper about song structure. Like:

Intro x 4
Main lead x 4
etc.

This will help you remember it. You sould individually work on the outro (the last lick that you couldnt play on video) The open string thingie (after the solo) and the part after that. Other than that is ok. Try to memorize individual parts and read the structure from the paper. That should do it.

I am satisfied overall. You have a speed improvement on solo licks. You play far better on lower strings. And you have no problem on vertically descending (notewise) licks. Well done bro! Tonight is your free night so I dont expect you to send videos.

Cheers smile.gif and take care. Have fun on your gaming night!
