Here is how I'm doing it.

Logitech 9800 webcam. I'd think that sync'd video/audio is within the grasp of a $100+ webcam...

I am using the mic on the webcam for audio. The audio is coming from my mixer, the pc is playing back the backing and my digitech unit also goes into the mixer then both go out to the monitors.

But the PC isnt processing the audio or anything. Its just all played thru the mixer and picked up by the webcam's mic. I cant think why it wont sync...

The recording resolution is "HD" 720x960 I think.... I tried higher resolutions too and it did the same thing. The raw videos are out of sync. Its not happening inside movie maker or anything.....

Here is an example.

Have you tried it at lower resolutions? I've had the same problem and it was because my usb couldn't keep up with the data coming from the webcam.

But can't you sync it in movie maker?

I didnt try anything lower than 960x780. I will. It would suck if I cant get video and audio to synch at the resolutions the camera says it supports... That wouldnt seem right....

Syncing in movie maker? Dunno, can ya? smile.gif Since they are both part of the same file I didnt think you could alter that....

I always record my audio in Mixcraft and sync with video in MovieMaker. Not sure, but you should be able to slide the audio track till it's in sync.

Possibly the higher resolution is affecting the data transfer and some frames are dropped and audio goes out of sync. I suggest as well to try with smaller resolution value and keep the framerate at 24fps.

Also as everybody said, it's perfectly normal to do some video production in Vegas, like syncing audio and video and putting some filters to achieve a bit better picture quality.

PS nice guitar man ! smile.gif

For basic lesson stuff with my mentor I dont want to put a lot of time into production stuff. That eats into my practicing time!!! smile.gif

But yeah, I'll look into those other options. I know not limiting myself to the webcams mic will really allow the audio to improve.

Yea dude I have the same cam as you and just hit record and I have no probs. The only difference is the resolution setting. Its low on mine.

Well, doing some fast video edits on a video is not something that takes a lot of time, but OK it's not necessary as you say.

One question - why don't you record audio straight into your DAW?

Cuz then I have to sync it.....

Or so I thought. I really dont know the best way to do all of this. Without spending all kinds of time on it. I'd hate to record a 30 sec lesson clip and then spend 45 min getting it to youtube....

I only have an hour or so a day to practice..... And I dont even get that everyday.

I use Sonar. I know it does video. But it doesnt RECORD video. You drag the video into it.

So I figured if I recorded the audio directly into Sonar, while filming. I have to drag the video in and then sync it.

Then figure out how to export as a wmv or whatever youtube wants....

Try at 640x480, see if that works. It's actually a high resolution for youtube!

Also If I may suggest Moyea Video4Web converter. It uses YT native format (flv) for video compression and you can compress to very small size, which should leave you some time of this part of the job.
