Sometimes it just doesn't work mate, it's part of the creative process, and it can be frustrating. Kris gave a good example about making a melody from the head and then somehow transcribing it, and I agree, it's a great way to write something fresh and cool. When you feel you're stuck, try several different approaches and make a pause, go out on a fresh air perhaps, and start again. Creativity will come, don't worry!

My advice would be to, when you are frustrated with coming up with new music, maybe learn a song from a band that you like or listen to some music for inspiration. You can learn many new things that way, and that will lead you to get more song ideas.

When it doesn't work for you , make a break..Few days , as much as it takes..In the mean time listen to some new music , watch concerts and you may get some inspiration for new songs..Just don't force it..In time you will "learn" to be creative..
