Are you sure you ain't connected through an USB hub, instead of a direct connection? Then, ain't you connected through an expansion cable? Is it USB 2.0?

...and your source for recording in audio mixer is....?
Have you changed in audio setup (on Audio tab) that both playing and recording device is your Line6 device? Or are you recording from this line-in of your soundcard?

Weird.. I just had Farm on, guitar silent, all outputs off and all inputs on off. It still gives a little crackle, although it's less. The only thing that makes sound well all outputs are off is the Line in, I can play using Farm, with no outputs open.

Edit... I have no crackle now.. No inputs or outputs opne, just Pod Farm and playing guitar... Now it starts crackling again... It starts when I stop playing guitar? I don't get this thing...

Vista side bar tells me that when I load an internet page while playing, I use about 40% max. RAM is steady on 47%

help wink.gif It's getting worse now... every now and then I even hear a little Plop with a lot of reverb tongue.gif

Into Line in?? Are you sure you connected the Toneport the right way Kaz? Toneport is the sound card, you don't have to use your soundcard at all! Connect your PC speakers to the Toneport, not your soundcard.

Yeah you can plug in headphones into the headphones jack on gx unit.Toneport is the sound card so there is no need to use your internal sound card you have in your pc.Check out this thread : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=23149

I wrote in there how to use toneport as your PC's primary sound card.

Yeah I have the GX set as main input and output device, but that doesn't solve the crackling!

Kaz mate,

1) you have to plug in the speakers into LINE OUT of your Toneport device. You don't have the option of pluggin in the headphones when you connect the speakers, you must plug in the headphones on the PC speakers (if you have that sort of plug there).

2) In control panel>sound and audio devices you have to set your toneport as default playback and recording device.

3) Set the buffer in the Line 6 Device settings meny to 512, and set the ToneDirect monitoring slider A BIT TO THE RIGHT. DON'T PUT IT FAR TO THE LEFT.

When you do all this, the crackling will stop.

This should get rid of the crackling

Say I put it till Medium? it was between Medium and the most left option when I started with this thing.

So it should be like this now?

Try experimenting with direct monitoring slider , moving it to the right (towards Extra Large) will decrease CPU usage (and cracking).

Kaz, did you connect the speakers to the GX? Did you put GX as your sound card in control panel?

Crackling sound is generally connected to CPU overload. WHen you set the slider to far left ("extra small" latency), this means that CPU is working harder so adjusting the slider a bit to the right adds a bit of latency but gives CPU a bit of "headroom" to work with. This advise is written down in the device manual, and worked for some of my crackling issues before as well, so this is why I recommended it.

When I used UX1 on my previous PC, I needed to turn off the internal soundcards completely cause of the hardware issues. Try that Kaz, it may help. Go to device manager and disable your other soundcards other than Toneport.
