I just got my letter of rejection today from Berklee college of music. It kinda sucks cause i worked so hard and wanted it so bad, but i just guess i wasnt good enough in the end. I also got rejected from Temples music program the same day. These were some of my top choice schools, and now im feeling like im not good enough to pursue a career in music. Oh well bad things happen, i guess ill be okay.

The thing about being really stupid, is that there are a zillion ways to be a moron. There are usually several ways to be intelligent, given a situation, but it is a small finite number. But there are always a zillion ways to be to blithering idiot. So finding a new way to have the intellect of an artichoke is nothing to be proud of really, it is easy to do.

Sorry mate. This doesn't always mean that you are not good. Many factors can be a reason. This happened to me many times for different things and you just need to learn how to deal with it and move on. THE SHOW MUST GO ON !!! Don't give up, there is always next time smile.gif

Emir, you have a very good point. Never give up, everyone has potential to get better and better at things and get to the place they want to be (with a bit of hard work of course)! Keep on practicing man, you can get there.

What about LAMA (Los Angeles Music Academy)? One of my brothers (drummer) and my guitar teacher went there and really enjoyed it.

BIMM is not a big deal smile.gif You pay and you're in. If you're interested I can tell you what I had on the audition for the Guitar Institute, I believe the same is for the BIMM.

There are many great schools around but the main thing IMO
is that you can learn and progress A LOT even without school.
I'm not saying that you should quit applying,
all I'm saying is that you can spend your time in between wisely
and enter the school with more knowledge which automaticly means
less troubles to get your diploma, degree or whatever! smile.gif

Sorry to hear that... BIMM and GIT sounds good as well, though =)
Actually, I'm hoping to attend GIT in some years as well ^^

And even if (knock on wood) you don't get into any of them, you've still got GMC though. There's a lot of people who has become musicians without having some sort of musical education degree =)

Sorry to hear that Sami...

Berklee keeps moving acceptance bar every year now and I am not surprised you didn't make it this time.
Think of it this way man, you can have a shoot at it next year or year after that. By that time you should be richer for one audition experience, your scale, arpeggio, theory, harmony, sight reading and ear training knowledge will be stronger + you will have more time for prepared pieces that you need to perform there. By that time your improvisation skills should also grow stronger as well so you have nothing to loose just gain here.

I am sure you can get accepted but as I said it takes more than just applying to enter Berklee.

Good luck next time buddy smile.gif

Is GIT now called Musicians Institute? My teacher graduated from there and he seems very proud to say so. They've got some interesting alumni!

Downside is having to stay near Hollywood, CA for any length of time. wink.gif

Dont let it get you down mate, the fact that you were even considered must tell you something about your music, I doubt very much if Hendrix, Robert Johnson, slash and co had a berklee degree and it didnt seem to hinder them too much!

Just remember music is as much about the journey than the destination, highs, lows and setbacks will all make you a better person and by default a better musician, i have seen players that have blew me away in grotty liverpool bars and manchester venues, these guys have heart, soul and talent and its these qualities that cant be taught in a schoolroom.

Talent is where you find it mate, music belongs to the musicians, not Berklee! smile.gif

Sorry to hear it bro...but remember - we learn more from our losses than we do from our victories!

Also, I am a firm believer that good things will happen in the end to good people, and things happen for a reason. When I was applying to colleges, the two top schools I wanted, I didn't get in to. The school I did end up going to...led me to meeting my wife! I was crushed when I got rejected by those other two schools...you know how thankful I am now that they rejected me?!

Now that's what Willis was talking 'bout!!

Life plays crazy tricks on you, but you'll always be able to pull a fast one on life as well to make up for it. You'll do fine in life dude. When I was your age, I was concerned with getting high and drinking. I got an opportunity to clean up, picked up my guitar again, and stared caring about my future haha. That was less than 3 YEARS AGO, and now I'm half way done my Engineering degree. As far I can tell, your already there with enough drive to be applying to schools. So don't feel bad about nothing man, your doing fine.
