I will only suggest on the bedroom amp, the others I think you got foll control of yourself
 I was rescently browsing for a practice amp myself and ended up with a Blackstar HT5. Check it out, it can do anything!! How expensive are Mesa's Rectifiers there in Germany? you could get one used for maybe about 1500e and then you would still have money for a cabinet. That's just one suggestion though.
I've heard good tones from the JVM, and it was used for example in Opeth's Watershed for the rhythm guitars, so it can get you nice tones also. The 6505 is also a safe bet

It has great classic metal tones as well as a really brutal death metal sound. But you can't play it at bedroom levels. Well you can but it sounds castrated that way. Which is the reason I don't have one yet. For practice at home I use an ENGL E530 preamp a GT-10. Cool to see you talking about ENGL... I have very good references about these amps but I couldn't try any one because nobody imports those amps here in Argentina. Lian told me that many extreme bands like Dimmu Borgir use ENGL.

But I guess that's what some people are looking for, hard, tight in your face sound with a shitload of distortion. For me the savage was more organic and alive than the fireball. A Preamp contains the first gain stages of and amp. When you turn up the gain knob, that's the preamp. Now the problem is that the output of the preamp is not strong enough to be fed into a speaker. So you'll normally hook it up to a power amp (that's where the master volume sits) and then into a cab. Now the preamp I use has a little solid state poweramp and cab simulation in there. So you could hook it up to a little speaker or headphones. Sound good for clean sounds. Horrible when distorted. Now what I do is I use the ENGL as preamp together with my GT-10. Which sound's great. As I already said I use headphones most of the time and I think it's the best solution for that (If anybody knows something better for playing with headphones tell me!). Now when I jam with a friend or my girlfriend is arround I plug the output of the GT-10 into my roland micro cube. Probably some ENGL amp is the best choice of all those things. Marshall is too soft, Peavey is too hard, and ENGL is in the middle, but get a decent cab for it. Possibly get an ENGL combo, and extension cab for it, it's a flexible option for gigs and rehearsals.

What half stack are you considering getting? I play a JCM900 thru a 1960a slant cab at band practice- it's not even remotely close to a bed room level playing amp..

Orange Rockerverb is IMO the best metal amp right now. Check em' out at the store, amazing!
