Ok GMC'ers so i got my new guitar (Ibanez RG350EX) a few weeks ago and im still getting used to it etc. and i know it has this double locking trem but to be honest, i dont actually know what thats means?, i know of course what a trem is, but the double locking suggests to me that you can lock the trem so it like a fixed bridge, but im not sure if that is correct or even if it is how would i lock it?

so if someone could please explain i would be very greatful
oh and one more thing how would i find out the year of my guitar.

hope you can help!

double locking trem

how would i find out the year of my guitar.

One lock is at the nut and one is the bridge, double locks. I've also heard ppl say it's because it moves two ways, i.e can both be pushed and pulled, but I think the naming is because of the two locks.

If you're new to floating tremolos make sure it's aligned to the body of the guitar. If it's angled down or up it wont stay in tune, I got my Ibanez from the store all set up wrong but I had experience from my old Charvel so I knew it was crappy setup. So don't blindly trust the store or previous owner have it set up right.

About the year, for Ibanez Im quite sure of that the first two digits in the serial number = year. If you have a letter first that's = month (A=jan, B=feb etc.)

Hey!, i got an Ibanez RG350DX which is the same one as yours. but just all white, with black pups and trem. Its great.

A double locking trem is where the tremelo locks in 2 places ie where at the nut you have your locks and the bridge itself locks by balance.

I have had a few problems with my guitar detuning really quickly after tuning it, but i fiddled and managed to set it up myself, and all seems to be good now.

good luck

Yes. You would have to "block" the tremolo though and have to do something like this
