I don't know if anyone has noticed, but Ernie Ball has come out with a line of coated, titanium reinforced Slinkys. They claim to have the same feel as traditional.
You're supposed to be able to enter a drawing for lifetime supply of strings, but I can't find anything clickable on the page. http://www.ernieball.com/guitarplayer/ -------------------- "I dreamed a lot when I was younger.. I love using ernie ball strings for my basses...They sound much better and last longer preserving "new strings" tone....This new line seems very interesting...Can't find the link for contest though

IMHO new set of strings is a new set of strings. Oxidation of the strings can be prevented with the coating so Elixir or these strings can be good for that. But when a time for the gig/recording comes, you have to change them anyway, because they are stretched out, worn above the frets and loosing sustain and pitch. But titanium reinforcement sounds cool to me, so this is something that definitely needs a test run. Thanks for the info mate!

I use Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky 9-46 they work great. They can't last more than 2-3 weeks but that's ok, they are designed to be like that.
