Hey Guys smile.gif

I'm playing guitar at a high school talent show and need your help. The song me and the band are doing is one I wrote and is in drop c. While i'm doing the solo I want the bassist to be doing these chords: C-G-D#-F I was just wondering what key I'm in?

Gear:
Amps:
Vox AD50VT
Yamaha GA-10
Guitars:

To answer your question could you please specify type of chords you are playing ?
All major, all minor, mixed etc

If its all major chords in that specific order, you have C major scale over C and G chords while Eb (D#) and F major are from C dorian mode (Bb major scale).

Hope that helps!

That looks like C Minor or C Dorian as Pedja said
as long as those are only bass or root notes
and not full major chords, like you wrote them using capital letters.
Cm, Ddim/Dmin, Eb and Fm/F, that would be progression. smile.gif

Oupsie, I didn't see letters correctly,
I'm blind as I am since I missed G and saw D. laugh.gif

If those are really majors as you said
then you're into 2 keys indeed, C major and C Dorian.
But in rock music you'll find lots of progressions like that,
one good example is Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit,
F,Bb, Ab and Db, all majors (F and Fm keys)
while Kurt was playing Fm pentatonic most of the time.
There is only one tricky note which is Ab from Fm pentatonic over F chord
in progression but even if you play it you might get the flavor you want. smile.gif

You could try with the Cm pentatonic or the C major pentatonic with the added blue note (although could sound blusie and if it's a heavy tune could no be the flavor you're searching for)
