Has anyone heard of the theories going around that say that the Danelectro Cool Cat and Transparent Cool Cat Overdrives are knock offs of the Timmy and Fulltone OCD boutique pedals?

the transparent overdrive sounds amazing from demos I've seen, I tried looking for one last weekend, they are literally 1/4 the price of these pedals, such a crazy deal, all metal chassis and true bypass, sick price

nice bro, enjoy them, I can't wait to grab the transparent one, I may buy a couple of the other cool cats if I can find the damn things anywhere, they're only about $50 in Canada each, maybe even a bit less, the OCD I bought was 3 times that plus tax.

Cool smile.gif
I've got a few Danelectro pedals, none of those mentioned here though, but i'm quite pleased with the quality and sound considering how cheap they are.
Looking forward to the review smile.gif

They ship out to me today!

I'm thinking these will do well with my homebuilt amp.

I bougth this week the distortion and chorus pedals from Danelectro , and I think they sound pretty good. I'll try to record something and upload it to the forums. Check out this pedals, recommended 100%, for their price.

I have a transparent overdrive of the first generation - which was the one they stopped when the Timmy manufactorers threatened to lawsuit them. It's a total rip-off of the Timmy pedal, the circuit is exactly the same, the only difference is that they switched some capacitors or so..... and it was just half of the price comparing to a Timmy. Now they released generation 2, which I think is not the same circuit as before, but it might be good anyway. The one I got is awesome, it doesn't change the sound of the amp at all - just adds some boost & overdrive.

EDIT: And don't You people read the WIKI???? Grrrr.... wink.gif I made a WIKI of this some 4-5 months ago!

Dunno, could be good. I saw some adds here, people are making OCD clones and selling them for (not that cheap) money. I would go for the original tho. Not necessarily in terms of "branded", but just to make sure the stomp is reliable and built by someone who cares about tone.

The OCD is an absolutley brilliant overdrive, if it sound slike this it must be good, however pure economics tells you something has to be different here!
