I have been playing around a little with this one - and if my voice decides to cooperate I'll upload a draft of an idea I got. Once again this is a very catchy and atmospheric tune - well done Trond!

Now how cool would this be!!!!! smile.gif

Ok so I took myself the liberty to record something over your arrangement! First the excuses: I haven't spent time tweaking things, so sound is crappy and dubs are not tight etc - so this is just a very raw draft and I'll probably redo most of it... However it would be great to hear what everybody thinks about it!

When any given moment of truth
Gets buried in your lies
I disappear in silence
A moment of silence

Shot through my head
This moment turns red
You're so lovely and sad
Shame, your will has gone bad

In the dawn is where we meet
And you know just what I need...
A moment of silence

The lyrics are great so far, and the type of screams you get at f.example 00.46 was really really cool!

Great to hear you like it! laugh.gif So if you think this will work I'll keep working on the song and see what I can come up with.

Also - I am a bit unsure about some language related stuff. Is "In the dawn is where we meet" ok to say?

And you know just what I need" biggrin.gif

This definetly works! smile.gif I'm really curious to see what you'll think up for the chorus part at around 02.20.

I'm not sure if "In the dawn is where we meet" is gramatically correct.. but it sounds cool biggrin.gif

Aha! I haven't got that far yet - and I actually thought that I had covered one verse and chorus already. Either way everything in the song sounds strong so I hope to be able to come up with more stuff! smile.gif

Actually, the first verse starts after the 1 minute mark, when it calms down a bit smile.gif

Aha! (2nd aha) - I hear the song from a whole new perspective now ph34r.gif

If I manage to keep coming up with vocal stuff do you think my brutal disordering of the song sections will work? From experience my first spontaneous ideas are always the strongest ones - so that's why I am thinking it might be best to try and build from what I have got so far. + We might end up having a real original song structure - with two different choruses! biggrin.gif

"A real original song-structure and two different choruses" <-- I like the sound of that biggrin.gif

I agree, I definetly think your on to something in your first idea here.
But what if we switch what you have done in the first minute now and put that the second time this spesific section is repeated towards the end of the song? and maybe have less vocals before the first verse so we get a softer buildup?

This is how i had the structure in mind:
00.00-00:43: Intro (Not sure if we need vocals here)
00.43-01:10: Chorus (Version 1)
01:10-01.41: Not sure what to define this as, maybe just a continued chorus.
01:41-02:21: Verse 1 and pre-chorus.
02.21-02:57: Chorus (Version 2)
02:57-03:29: Verse 2 with a shorter pre-chorus.
03:39-04:03: Chorus (Version 2)
04.03-04:29: Interludish/bridge section.
04:29-05:14: Solo
05:14-05:32: Undefined (Room for some potential cool vocal-experimentation here!)
05:32-05:45: Chorus (Version 1)
05.45-06:11: Continued chorus.
06.11-06.47: Chorus (Version 2)

..if that makes sense biggrin.gif

absolutely WICKED trond, i always liked your style of playing, that,s why your rock solo lesson was the first piece i learned when i joined GMC, like everyone else i too think with more music and songs with lyrics, you could be selling albums of your music. like jamesT said you are starting to get that TROND trademark sound and i really love your distortion and delays, they remind me of brad gillis of night ranger, i agree this is your best work up to now, keep on putting out great tunes and good luck with your music.

Thanks for the detailed song sections description Trond - I am currently trying to figure out how to put it together!

I have done a first attempt at "chorus version 2" - I have marked new stuff in red:

Attached File  moment_of_silence_draft2.mp3 ( 3.39MB ) Number of downloads: 143

When any given moment of truth
Gets buried in your lies
I disappear in silence
A moment of silence

Shot through my head
This moment turns red
You're so lovely and sad
Shame, your will has gone bad

In the dawn is where we meet
And you know just what I need...
A moment of silence, a moment of silence!

In the dawn is where we meet
And you know just what I need...
A moment of silence, a moment of silence!

[guitar interlude here?]

02:08
There's a simple rule: what gets concealed
will always and never be revealed, I need...just a moment
So live your life just to live a lie
and die just in time to hide the truth, I need...just a moment
There's a simple rule: what gets concealed
will always and never be revealed, I need...a moment of silence!

The idea here is to make the "empty" section before the red-marked chorus 2, into a guitar interlude section - I think the guitar melody is strong. (maybe that would require a different mixing of the lead guitar)

I could have a go at some lyrics there as well - but I feel it's pretty crowded with lyric stuff already (of course if we remove the intro lyrics things might feel different).

By the way - if you want to me to send you some files so that you can have a go at throwing things around, let me know!
