I stumbled across this site
http://www.revelatorguitarworks.com/SONICB...TOCASTER_G.html
Look at the green color the Sonci Blue has turned into. I don't care for the relic (beating up a new guitar/ I can do that well enough on my own) but I love this color and I'm getting ready to buy a sonic blue stratocaster and think this might be a nice look...just the color change (not the rest of the relic job). Anybody know how this is done. I read somewhere that you can fade/change the colors out in the sun... any body know of any sites that could help guide me?

It was probably repainted, was originally blue. I've seen a lot of strats repainted, it's easy to do. It's not unusual that the old color is showing up on the worn out places.

When constantly exposed to light some colors/paints tend to fade out or change. Maybe this is what happened to this guitar.

Temperature changes can also adversely affect Colours!!!

If you're particularly taken with that colour why not check out a Strat in 'Sea Foam Green' which is almost identical!!

When it comes to actually chaning colors depending on light and angle, it's something called "Pearl Paint" or something like that.. I think it's small multicolored pearls that makes the effect. The pearls are (for example) blue on one side and green on the other. They're pretty small, but the 3D effect makes the color change if you're looking at it from different angles.

Thanks all... cool.gif I like the sea green color, but the model guitar that I want ( Malmsteen stratocaster) only comes in red, vintage white and sonic blue... . I really like the scalloped neck and have thought about getting a different strat (in green) and sending it off to get a custom scalloped neck job... but that seems like a lot of extra work & $. I also like that the Scalloped work is done by Fender... so I guess I'm stuck choosing from factory colors, which is why I was excited to see this "reliced" Sonic Blue color and I thought...If I can turn the blue to green, I can have my cake and eat it too! Either way
I'll have it by Father's Day if not a bit early. I'll post it when it comes!
