hi Rene,

Im no expert but It may be that your guitar needs setting up correctly by a guitar tech. Also I find that even with my PGM which is a high end guitar built for good sustain and tuneing stability if I have the wrong amp settings notes wont sustain as well. I have always used a compressor with my guitars to control sustain levels, which you could try smile.gif

Your new guitar has good quality pickups and a good build quality so its probably only something simple smile.gif

Yes, a proper setup is the first thing to do to get the most out of your guitar.

Hi Rene

In my opinion it's most probably the pickups. There are two ways pickups can make those kind of problems. When the magnet bar from the pickup is too strong it affects the strings, forcing them to stop vibrating, shortening the sustain, and also causing the 'rottary sound'.

The other way is when the pickups, especially the neck pickup (because the string's amplitude is highest in the area towards the middle of the string) are too close to the strings. My experience has shown that pickups with an AlNiCo magnet bar affect the string more then the ones with a ceramic bar.

If your problem is caused by one or both of these I've explained, then there are two possible solutions: either drop the pickups (especially the neck pickup) lower, away from the strings, or try to replace them with some other pickups.

I hope this is helpful.

Cheers! smile.gif

This is very common (its not just your guitar), on many guitars you will find the notes just cut out if you bend the high E string after the 12 fret. As im not a guitar tech I dont know why this is, but I think it still might need setting up by a tech.

And I can also say from experience a good compressor would give you bags of sustain regardless of which fret you use and may give you the results your looking for.

With regards to the "rotary" sound, im sorry I dont know what the means smile.gif

The sustain depends on many things: string action, pickups, pickup set-up, from what kind of wood the guitar is made of, string gauge, the frets (the bigger the frets, the higher the sustain), neck through/bolt-on, basically everything.

The first thing you should do is to try lowering the pickups. If that has little or no effect, try to make a higher string action.

Let me know if you have any progress.
