Hi Isac,

Here is your first individual assignment for the MTP:

Assignment #1 - Superize

Lesson

As you indicated that your basic chord arpeggios need some work, I would suggest to start the MTP with that lesson: Beginner- Strumming and Arpeggios

Technically speaking there is nothing challenging to this lesson, however timing wise it should be spot on. Try to get it perfect with downstrokes during the arpeggio's first on low tempo and gradually speed it up to full-tempo.

I don't expect that you will have lots of difficulties with this lesson, but take the time you need to record a good video of it smile.gif

Deadline

I would like you to upload a video of this lesson in your own upload thread by the end of the week (weekend) if possible. Also if you have any questions, just ask them in this thread.

Good luck!

Assignment #2 - Superize

Lesson

As you have your electric guitar back smile.gif , we are going to continue to work a bit more on the rhythm and timing foundation, which should be doable for you, given the good result of the first assignment.

You may choose one of the following lessons. I would like you to upload a take of at least 1/2 lesson (if you can manage a complete lesson would be great). You may choose the backing track speed you like (I don't mind the speed at this moment).

Alternative 1: Smoke on the water - Deep Purple

Alternative 2: Blues grooves library part 1 (tabs found on right hand side "Tab" link)

Alternative 3: Alice in chains lesson

Deadline

I would like you to upload a video of this lesson in your own upload thread at Wednesday 18 Mar if at all possible. Also if you have any questions, just ask them in this thread.

Let me know which lesson you choose and whether you think a take of the complete lesson would be possible within the deadline (based on that we can either decide to extend the deadline or 1/2 the lesson wink.gif

Good luck!!!

Assignment #3 - Superize

Lesson
We are going to depart from the rhythm guitar section for now, as you have quite solid rhythm foundation already (also looking at your video's for the REC program smile.gif).

I would like you to work on the following lesson of Muris: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...asing-beginner/

This lesson contains several techniques which are very important to develop your solo guitar abilities further (vibrato, alternate picking, tapping). In conjuction with this lesson, I would also like you to read up on the different modes (using Andrew's theory lessons), and especially the Lydian mode to know what makes it 'Lydian'... in other words, which notes and chords are very important to get the Lydian feel.

Please let me know the answer to the above question in due time.

Try to focus in this lesson on applying proper vibrato when required. I would like you to focus mostly on that aspect in this solo. I don't care so much on speed for now, or even the tapping lick at the end. Getting your vibrato to a next level is our main goal here, together with an introduction to the Lydian mode. Try also to develop your ears a bit to recognize the Lydian mode (this is quite difficult in the beginning, but in the end this will really help your playing in the future).

Deadline

I would like you to upload a video of this lesson in your own upload thread before next week Friday t Wednesday 10 Apr if at all possible. Also if you have any questions, just ask them in this thread.

Good luck!!!

Ok, that's actually quite good, so you can really focus on the vibrato this time smile.gif, and we can quite swiftly move on to some nice etudes to get certain techniques covered more in detail.

Sorry that I took a lesson you already did before.

Assignment #4 - Superize

Lesson
Let's continue a while on the vibrato/bending theme. I would like you to work on the following lesson of Muris: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...r-melodic-solo/

This lesson contains quite a few bends, some wide vibrato as well, which should serve you well currently, I think. Vibrato is quite difficult to really well develop (am quite involved myself with it as well wink.gif ), however it makes playing so much more lively, and with feeling that it is really worth the effort of getting it right!

In terms of theory assignment, in conjuction with this lesson, I would like you to really go a bit more in depth in the accompanying texts of the video's, which pretty much describe the note choices Muris did when composing this solo.

Also, you will notice that the solo is primarily based on E minor, but the E minor pentatonic, phrygian and harmonic minor are also used. What would be good is to memorize the 3-note per string pattern of the E minor (E Aeolian), E Phrygian and E Harmonic Minor for the 1st position: Index finger starting on the root note of the 6 string.

Finally, I would suggest you to take a close look at this excellent lesson by Can (the above 3 note per string patterns for both the Aeolian as Phrygian are discussed there): https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=23160

Let's focus as much as you can on the vibrato in this lesson. I would much rather see only 1/4 of the lesson with improved vibrato, then the complete lesson with less vibrato smile.gif smile.gif

Deadline

I would like you to upload a video of this lesson in your own upload thread before next week Friday 17 Apr if at all possible. Also if you have any questions, just ask them in this thread.

Good luck!!!
