Ive been working on the sweeping and its going well, But the more I play the more I think maybe I should focus on composing and improvising as I am weak on both fronts, not so much creativity but getting what I hear in my head to the fretboard... I am not sure where to start working on this.. Also in the uploads folder there is an updated version of marcus's neoclassic. Talk to ya later!

Great, I´ve just commented your take: Comment.

I just got an idea for a homework. Invent a little melody in A minor (no chords, only melody and at least 10 bars). Try to use sequencing,... . Then we´ll have a closer look at composing. wink.gif

Sequencing is moving a pattern one step higher or lower. When you have the pattern in A minor "A B C B", you move it for example one step down to "G A B A" and then to "F G A G". That is sequencing. smile.gif You don´t have to use it, but I find it is a good tool for improvising and composing.

here is a very primitive gp thing, I really cant get it to sound how I want as I have limited knowledge of rhythm notation and of guitar pro in general but this is kind of the idea

I didn´t know about your rhyhtm knowledge issue... We´ll develop that, too. What concerns the melody, your are not in A minor. For example, you use in bar N°2 a A# which isn´t not in A min. Could you redo this exercice? Before please show me what notes are in A min. smile.gif

I´m back with a bit of time. So, you surely know chords. Now, write to every note a chord in another track in the .gp file. I made the beginning for you, so that you have an idea of what I´m speaking:

The first part is good, but then the problems begin. You applied Maj7 chords which isn´t bad at all, but in this case, they don´t fit well with the melody. Could you redo the exercice and use just simply triads? And also, try to use other chords: you took the melody note as root note and made a chord out of it. You can also intrepret the melody note as the 3rd or 5th of the chord.
You also mentioned that you had problems with the notation of rhythms. You can read the paragraph about rhyhtms in this lesson by Andrew. smile.gif

Let me know if there are some problems with understanding or whatever.
