I have 3 dogs and they ARE my kids so I really feel for you and your family. It's horrible to lose a pet, they become one of the family so quickly and with small kids it's hard for them to understand... they just want their friend back. The "Mog" books Tony mentioned are very good, they helped my sister explain to my nephew when they lost their cat.

Sad day indeed mate, real sorry to hear that sad.gif It's very hard when these things happen all of a sudden, specially when the dog is loved in the family, and from the young ones as well sad.gif

I am sorry man, it is just sad that children get to know about death like this. Generally this happens way too soon. Hope your girl and your family recovers ASAP from this unfortunate event. But believe me bringing home a new puppy one night would easen things up...

Sorry to hear that man, as a dog owner I understand how that must feel. It's an unfortunate lesson that we all have to learn, but must be very strange and upsetting being the parent of the child learning.

QUOTE (Praetorian @ Feb 28 2009, 01:49 PM) *
We came home last night...to find one of our dogs dead on the couch. It looked just like she was sleeping, and just died in her sleep. My 4 year old is crushed, she was her dog. This is especially tough on her because our other dog passed away last summer. The poor kid. The dog was only about 4 years old and has been acting perfectly normal lately. We searched the house, she didn't get into anything poisonous or anything like that. She couldn't have choked on anything because she was laying on the couch just like she was sleeping. I have no idea what happened. Pets are great...but this is the down side.
