I have recorded a jam to the acoustic rock BT
I love that BT.
anyway here is my jam to it, I decided to do an acoustic style jam also to this with my Variax
very simple Penatonic stuff.
let me know what you think.

It's alright. Just work on your technique. Make your picking more defined and solid. More meaningful and precise.

Well done! Some times you're off beat though.

You seem more comfortable with Wish you were here, Tears in heaven, Bohemian solo and that improvisation piece jam1. From your homepage.
So I think you get more secure with the rhythm after practicing the same tune for quite a bit. Have you played jam1 a lot before you recorded it?

No, never played it before - I just played the backing track and "jammed" along to it. I know it was pretty simple stuff, nothing complicated and no difficult techniques involved, just a little pentatonic twiddling. Did it in one take
Thanks for the comments on the other stuff.

Upon hearing it again:

- Work on your hammer-ons and pull offs. Do them with more definition.

- Mute the strings slightly as you play to avoid the beginner twang

- Phrase your improvisation, Add a few licks here and there.

- Don't just play scalar notes up and down, put in some variation, Double up here and there, pedalling, possibly some speed picking.

Constructive critiscism there. How long have you been playing out of interest?

Not sayin' I can do better 'cause Im not sure I could but however I feel that I got some comments for you to help you out a bit (perhaps).

- Try changing pace a bit. It sounds a bit like a metronome excersize where everything is evenly spaced. While this is a good thing usually it gets a bit dull after a while.
- Fiddle with your tone knobs (personal preference - nothing to do with your playin' it just didnt sound wonderful to me)
- A bit repetitve, if you (like me) find it hard to come up with different soundin' licks on the spot for a whole 4-5 minutes then do shorter improvises untill you can do a bunch of different small improvises, then do a long one again after practicing makin' small different sounding ones
- 'Hang' more on certain notes for this sort of solo

- I really liked your playin' from time to time, you got a melody in there and you pull it off real good at times
- It is nice to see a solo improv. that differs so much from what I usually hear on improvs (lots of speed) where here you play a slower one with more feelin' to it.
- Really good choice of backin' track ( tongue.gif )

Okey so there, you can choose yourself which of my comments to take in and which you can say "meh" at. All in all I think it was an OK demonstration and I hope to hear more of your stuff.

Oh and one last thing, play it like you mean it! It really makes a difference. Say you play a moody depressing blues solo then you might wanna think of your dead dog whilst you play. If you play a fantasy solo you might wanna imagine you're fighting a dragon. If you're playing thrash you wanna imagine yourself beating the crap out of GLAM artists. etc. etc.

Keep up the good work!

Heh heh, nice job! Maybe we should post the one minute version of this or another and all post our own work over it.

I think I am going to try an "electric" solo over this BT - even playing the really simple Penta stuff I did acoustic sounds way different and much cooler with electric. - much easier to vibrato and add "feel" and "texture".
With the acoustic I know it sounded really simple but that is what I was trying to do - just some laid back simple easy twiddling with nothing complicated.
