which way should i bend the strings? i mean im sure we all bend the low e down and the high e up but all the rest do you do all up? all down? a mix of the two?

plus i played something for my real life teacher and he said he thinks i should vibrato upwards but when i look at marcus and some other instructors they vibrato both up and down but most of the time i think they vibrato down.
i need a little explanation on what to do when or at least what should i practice more?

It's pretty logical I guess,
low E and A are too close to the top so it's fine to bend/vibrato downwards,
high E and B are too close to the bottom so upwards is the way,
for G and D you can go both ways if you want and if situation allows it.
Per example, if you wanna play 2 whole bends on G string
then downwards might not be enough space,
in that case you try it upwards.
Opposite thing would happen on D string tho.

All in all, there is no good or wrong way here
as long as it works for you and sounds ok. smile.gif

Sound-wise there is no difference at all. Sometimes I bend the G string downwards playing on the lower frets because this way I get a better grip at it and if there is still space for it, why not? It's totally up to you. However, applying vibrato to a string that is bent downwards is a whole different matter wink.gif

why is that a different matter? if you bend downwards than you just vibrato downwards no?

You can do it anyway you want really, E and B need to go up, but everything bellow can go any way. It's up to you how you use it, most often it is good to bend them up if you wanna do some double stop bends on B and E.

As a general rule I'd say:

- 5th and 6th string bend down
- 1st and 2nd string bend up
- 3rd and 4th string bend up or down depending on the situation

The vibrato depends on the strings and the rule would be the same. The wide vibrato up and down would be on the 3rd and 4th string while on the others would be one way maybe.

Yeah, do it as you want and they should sound the same,
for vibrato is always better to go up and down
cause your hand will do less movement with the same result
comparing with going only up or down,
take + as upwards and - as downwards, 0 is flat note
and it looks like this: 0 + 0 - 0 + 0 - etc.
If you do it one way it would be like 0 +0 + 0 + etc
and your hand is working double time. smile.gif

I find it easier to do vibrato bending upwards but that's nothing practice can't fix. The only exception is the low E where vibrato isn't a problem because i have enough grip on a thick string. It doesn't matter which way it goes the only thing that matters is how it sounds

Yes, I agree, vibratos on the A and low E string are good to go downwards.

Vibrato is going to sound the same up or down. Practice it both ways so you can be comfortable with it in any situation though.
